Reviewer 1 Report

- Throughout the text, but especially in the summary and introduction, it is recommended to use a synonym for the word "change" and its derivatives. Paraphrasing is advised.

-In the introduction, further develop some references (especially in the first and second paragraph).

- The wording should be improved. It is recommended to use short and concise sentences. It is recommended to first affirm and then justify what has been written.

- It is recommended to use the passive voice.

- Divide the article into the following sections: Introduction, Objectives, Methodology, Results and Conclusions.

- The results are very interesting, but the conclusions are very general. It is recommended to focus more on the results obtained. Also, justify how the objectives specified above have been achieved.

Line 78-87: It does not indicate the problem of the statement or what was your aim to conduct this research work. This paragraph looks like a review article discussion. Need to rewrite.

Line 88-196: Merge this section into the introduction part.

Line 284: There should be a heading for results and discussion instead of finding.

Line 285-382: Results are presented well  however this part must be improved by adding recent literature with proper citations

Line 383: The conclusion should be the summary of your finding that should be precise and specific.

Comments about the paper entitling "The Relationship Between the Built Environment and Climate Change: The Case of Turkish Provinces"

1.      The article hypothesis clearly indicates climate change caused by the built environment, but the author stated in the hypotheses that our focus is not on urbanization in paragraph lines 74, 75, and 76. As a result, urbanization is strongly linked to climate change because, as cities grow, industrial and commercial pollution rises, causing changes in temperature, rain patterns, and extreme events. Because the entire study revolves around urbanization, which leads to the built environment and climate change, the author should clarify their hypothesis.

2.      In paragraph line 235, the author mentions "A 1-to-3-month drought period," which should be in 1-3 or 1 to 3-month drought period form for uniformity in the article.

3.      In paragraph lines 250 and 251, the author mentioned that changes in the built environment were analysed by comparing 1990 and 2018 due to the lack of continuous data. The author should collect environmental variables data from various sources because the results of the entire study are dependent on these data. In the context of climate change, if there is a discontinuity in the data, the results are not 100% accurate and precise.

4.      In paragraph lines 253 and 254, the author just compares the average values of 1990, 1991, 2018, and 2019, which is not quite enough to depict the entire climate change in Turkey due to the built environment over about three decades. So, the author should compare the average values of three decades for a more precise and accurate result in terms of the impact of climate change over the last three decades.

5.      Although the findings are useful for policymakers seeking to mitigate climate change, the author focused on three decades of built-environment effects that contributed to climate change. These are some suggestions for improving articles that increase the value of paper while also aiding in the mitigation of climate change.

These changes should be incorporated in galley proof of the paper. Accepted for publication.

This study examines the effects of in the built environment on climate change across the provinces of Turkey. this study focuses not only focuses urban areas but also capture the effects of climate change faced by entire provinces throughout Turkey. The manuscript is well organized, clearly defined objectives; however, authors need to make some important corrections to improve the overall scientific strength of this manuscript.

1.     The main findings of the manuscript should summarize in the abstract.

2.     Authors need to rewrite the introduction part focusing on important background information of this research.

3.     Authors should review the whole manuscript and check the grammatical mistakes i.e. line 76 “themselves”

4.     Conclusion should be more concise. Please rewrite it. Future research direction and the shortcomings of this research should mention in the conclusion part.

5.     Please check the references as per journal guideline and whether mismatch in literature and bibliography.

This article can be considered for publication prior to consider the above issues.
