Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is a good article, although it needs the following:

1.     The introduction is not distinctly demarked from the framework. It is unclear if they are creating a conceptual (They assemble theories to explain the phenomenon) or a theoretical framework. This last one will test a specific theory using data (the researcher borrows a theory).

2.     The research design is incomplete. It must explain how it will work for the rest of the study. It mentions action research with little to no information.

3.     Then, the variables are “out of the blue” without referencing the theories mentioned above. A table will do justice to the need.

4.     Why the 3D-WS questionnaire is selected over so many available ones? How was it validated and tested in other studies?

5.     The study needs to explain the population or contextualization of it more. Use past tense verbs, as the study was already conducted.

6.     The themes and subthemes from the qualitative data should be integrated into the text to discuss its relevance.

Author Response

Thank you to the reviewer. We attach the answer to your suggestion:

1. The introduction has been modified and has been divided regarding the theoretical framework that supports the methodology

2. The introduction has been substantially modified to differentiate itself from the theoretical framework. In turn, the two theories that support the methodology have been specifically included: Stenberg's and Goleman's, related to intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence (references numbers 16 and 18).

More specifically, the introduction has been divided into sections that, in summary, would be as follows:

  • Current influence requirements.

It highlights aspects of the current situation, its social needs and the usefulness of the contribution sought.

  • Intra and interpersonal intelligence and its influence on emotional regulation, cognitive development and resilience.

Justification based on the most relevant theories that describe the influence that intra and interpersonal intelligence has on the different areas associated with emotional well-being and life satisfaction. The areas are collected in the study through the 3D-WS tool used for data collection.

  • Emotional regulation and its relationship with psychological well-being.

It brings the elements highlighted in section 1.2 more specifically closer to the objective pursued by the research.

  • Implementation of programs for the development of intra- and interpersonal intelligence in the university population.

Characteristics and aspects to consider for the implementation of programs associated with the development of intra and interpersonal intelligence

It ends with the objectives and hypotheses of the study, linking it with the theories that support it.

3. The research design has been renamed. So, this is a descriptive and exploratory study to know the acute effects of a program called “Know yourself.” They provide descriptive data on the dimensions of the variable “personal wisdom” in a sample of university students. This is a preliminary, non-longitudinal programme. Its application served to test the acute effects on the variables under study, as a descriptive knowledge base for the subsequent design of a longitudinal intervention protocol.

In the Protocol study description of the longitudinal design of an intervention protocol that precedes aQuasi-experimental study with pre and post-test design, organized into a control group and an experimental or intervention group is proposed. For the design of the present study, the so-called Template for Intervention Description and Replication (TIDieR) [48] has been used, as well as the guides of Transparent Reporting of Evaluation with Non-randomized Designs (TREND).

The variables that are raised in the study are the three dimensions of “personal wisdom.” At an initial stage of the design and longitudinal intervention proposed in the protocol study, it was thought appropriate to include other psychological constructs related to personal wisdom based on scientific evidence. The authors have decided to eliminate these variables. Therefore, the variables under study are coincident in the preliminary descriptive study part with respect to those described in the protocol study.

Additionally, in the design of the protocol study it has been considered convenient to include a qualitative methodology instrument to further specify the collection of data on the variables under study:

-          Ad-hoc question: described in study 1: "How do you think you take care of your health at the level of diet, physical activity, rest and cognitive well-being?" The answer to the question was gradually established from very low (1) to very high (5).

Qualitative instruments

-          Diaries. teachers make a weekly newspaper where they will describe the ex-periences livedon the basis of three questions: a) What activities have been more and less accepted by the students? b) What will change next week in order to improve the intervention? c) What is your level of satisfaction from 1 to 10 regarding the results and the development of the sessions you have held?

-          Semi-structured interview. An ad-hoc interview will be conducted based on the study by Manzano-Sánchez et al. [56], focused on the teachers involved in theimplementation of the intervention: a) "What are the main benefits you have found in the methodology?" ; b) "What specific aspects have been the most difficult to apply?" ; c) "Have you identified any type of student where it is easier or more difficult to apply the methodology? ; d) "Do you think the length of the sessions is adequate?" ; e) "What would you change for a future inter -vention?" ; f) "Do you think that intrapersonal intelligence is better than tradi-tional teaching in the classroom?" ; g) "Indicates if you want to add any aspect that has not been previously reflected."

This type of qualitative measures have been proposed in recent protocol studies: Jiménez-Parra, JF; Belando-Pedreño, N.; López-Fernández, J.; García-Vélez, AJ; Valero-Valenzuela, A. “ACTIVE VALUES”: An Interdisciplinary Educational Program to Promote Healthy Lifestyles and Encourage Education in Values—A Rationale and Protocol Study. Appl. Sci. 2022, 12, 8073. https://doi.org/10.3390/app12168073

4. This questionnaire was selected based on different research and more specifically, on the research of Arteaga-Checa et al. (2022) because the program followed a similar line.

This questionnaire has been validated and tested by García-Campayo et al. (2018) showing adequate reliability values as indicated in the results (reference attached)

García-Campayo, J.; Del Hoyo, YL; Barceló-Soler, A.; Navarro-Gil, M.; Borao, L.; Giarin, V.; Tovar-García, RR; Montero-Marin, J. Psychol.2018,9, 692. https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2018.00692

5. Slight modifications have been made to the participants section (2.2). However, the age, education, sex and group thereof are indicated. If you need other additional information in addition to that explained in section 2.2 (table 1), we could obtain it. No further information has been indicated as it is not considered relevant.

The study to be carried out (Protocol Study) is specified more briefly as indicated above. If the reviewer deems it appropriate we can put it the same as in the previous section.

6. The explanation of the qualitative data and its analysis is reflected in section 3.6. Although, since the study is future (it has not been carried out) the themes and subthemes cannot be indicated in the text as the data has not been collected.

Thank you

Reviewer 2 Report

Thank you for the opportunity to review this article. Every experimental study with an intervention programme is important and deserves attention. However, the article lacks coherence. The entire results section is devoted to describing various methodological aspects of the study, and the results are hard to find. This makes the article very difficult to read. I would recommend that the article be restructured, relocating the most important methodological aspects and dispensing with the very detailed description of some aspects. The results section also needs to be expanded to make the results of the study clear. Finally, although I am not an English speaker, in my opinion the article should be reviewed by an English-speaking editor. The article is not written in fluent English.

Author Response

Thank you to the reviewer to your suggestions.

The introduction has been simplified and substantially modified to differentiate itself from the theoretical framework, restructuring the different sections. In turn, the two theories that support the methodology have been specifically included: Stenberg's and Goleman's, related to intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence (references numbers 16 and 18).

The subjects' preliminary results have held up. But since this is an intervention proposal, the results cannot be provided.

In summary, the results are the students' previous values and therefore, only the descriptive analysis can be indicated. Although if the reviewer deems it appropriate, we can indicate other aspects. The preliminary study (study 1) aims to reflect the participants' previous values, but not the results of the intervention.

The study has been carried out by an expert native speaker to improve language fluency and understanding.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper constitutes substantial research. However, some amendments are needed:

1. The Abstract should be embellished with measurable results.

2. Although the literature review is bristled with relevant theories, the contribution of the study to the correction of bibliography is not clear. A paragraph should be devoted to underline such correction.

3. The research question consists of descriptive hypotheses. However, measurable assumptions are required to underline the research objective.

English proofreading is needed.

Author Response

Thank you to the reviewer.

1. The summary has been modified indicating the results obtained in the preliminary study

2. The Introduction has been rewritten to focus the argument on behavioral theories that explain the dimensions of personal wisdom. Theories and studies have been reviewed that show the importance of the development of emotional skills. To achieve this, descriptive studies such as the one we propose and the design of intervention programs focused on working on intrapersonal and interpersonal skills are necessary.

3. The introduction, as well as the objective and hypothesis, have been modified to make it measurable. As this is an intervention protocol, it is specified how the study data will be collected in the post-test (study 2, section 3.3) and the pre-test values (table 2). The analysis variables have been modified so that there is exact consistency between the values of both tests.

The objectives and hypotheses in the discussion have also been modified.

4. The study has been carried out by an expert native speaker to improve language fluency and understanding.

Reviewer 4 Report

Dear Authors

The paper, titled "The 'Know Yourself' Intervention Program for the Development of Intrapersonal Intelligence in University Students," explores a pertinent and current subject.

While the conceptual framework is sound, there are issues with the clarity of the methodology and, notably, the results sections. In reality, what is presented is a pilot study, and the program itself is still in the design phase, awaiting implementation and evaluation. As a result, it appears inappropriate to include it in the results section at this stage.

So an extended revision of the paper is needed.

Best regards

Author Response

Thank you to the reviewer

The document has been modified based on the suggestions of the various reviewers, including the results section. Although preliminary data has been included (description of the sample and differences between the control and experimental groups), if the reviewer deems it, we can eliminate the section or include it in the methodology section instead of dividing the results into two sections.

On the other hand, the variables that would not be associated with the results of the pilot study (resilience and satisfaction with life) have been eliminated to give maximum coherence to the study.

The introduction has been substantially modified, while the objectives and hypotheses have been modified so that they follow the sequence of the study in both the introduction and the discussion.

The references have also been modified.

Reviewer 4 Report

Dear Authors

The paper addresses a relevant topic, and the conceptual framework is adequate. However, one aspect that is not clear is the inclusion of the Protocol study in the Results section, as it did not yet take place. I recommend clarifying and addressing this issue.

Author Response

Thank you to the reviewer for your comments.

A section 2.5.1 "preliminary descriptive values of the study sample" has been included within 2.5 "data analysis".

In this way, the name "results" has been eliminated and point 3 is now called "protocol study", the authors believe that in this way the article has greater logical coherence.

Best regards,
