1-     It was a kind of surprise to see all the authors from Thailand, although the study is about Myanmar (another country), is there any explanation??

2-        Please indicate the location coordinates of the study area.

3-   Regarding the “Opinions of municipal officers and residents”, 25 residents’ opinions are not clear and 25 are not enough to withdraw a conclusion.

4-        According to the authors “The findings of this study agree with prior research undertaken in other developing countries, including Zimbabwe, India, Thailand and Iraq, as substantiated by other studies”. Could you please elaborate more?

The present work presents a case study conducted in Yangon, aimed at in-10 vestigating the feasibility and potential benefits of approaching decentralized wastewater treatment system (DEWATS) as an alternative solution. DEWATS and centralized wastewater treatment system (CWTS) cases were observed for their performances, operational efficiencies, and environmental benefits. Some minor issues should be adressed before publication:

 

(1):References are numbered discontinuously in the text, for example, the first reference is numbered [7] (Page 1, Line 31);

(2): Page 3, Line 93-95, "DEWATS may be able to accelerate sanitation improvements in  high-priority neighborhoods when the authority does not provide comprehensive sanitation", the authors are suggested to provide much more explanations;

(3): Page 3, Figure 2, the quality of figure 2 is suggested to be improved;

(4): It is suggested that the author describe the limitations of this paper.

 

Overall, the paper is well organised and can be accepted after minor reversion.

1.       Well-written paper that helps us learn all about wastewater treatment. It looks at both the technical and social sides, giving us a detailed view of the problems and chances in the current systems. The assessment on sustainability, especially the scenarios analysis, shows what DEWATS does well.

2.       Acceptance of the paper is conditional on addressing the following comments:

·         First, how is sustainability defined and measured in the context of this research? It would be nice to include that in your introduction.

·         While the text presents valuable information, some sections in the sustainability assessment, lacks metrics. Providing more quantitative data in these sections would strengthen the analysis.

·         Can you provide examples of specific indicators used for each of the four key aspects: environmental, economic, social, and technical in the methodology section?

·         I would like to see in the conclusion some kind of future recommendations. Like how can we further improve the DEWATS system?
