Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In the study, fly ash as a partial replacement for cement in concrete production is presented, focusing on its sustainability from the economic, environmental, and social perspectives. The study analyzed previous research results and used the value engineering technique to construct a framework. Overall, the study presents valuable insights into the use of fly ash in concrete production and the benefits of sustainable practices in the industry. A minor revision is recommended to enhance the manuscript’s clarity and impact.

Recommendation: The study provides a clear overview and its results, showing the potential benefits of using fly ash as a partial replacement for cement in concrete production from a sustainability perspective. However, the study could benefit from further refining its language and presentation, including the following suggestions:

-clarifying the methodology used in the study and providing more detail on the experimental results. -including a summary of the key findings and implications of the study for the concrete and construction industry.

Minor corrections:

- Providing a clearer definition of the key terms used in the study, such as value engineering."

-The study could benefit from improving the visibility of figures. The use of clear and concise visual representations can greatly enhance the reader's understanding of the results and findings. It is recommended to use high-quality figures that are easily readable and clearly label the axes and data points. Figures 8-14 are are difficult to see and may not be suitable in this form.

Reviewer 2 Report

Paper title: Integration between sustainability and value engineering in the production of  eco-friendly concrete

The current study underlines the unique characteristics of fly ash concrete alternatives, how they differ from conventional concrete, and how they can be used to implement sustainable practices with positive financial outcomes.

The paper is interesting for readers. The work is well done and taught. Some minor revisions are needs before acceptance.

1. The paper is research article or a review?

2. Abstract part is too general, please check again

3. I suggest introduction and literature review could be merged.

4. Table 1 could be organized better, for example put references on the right side.

5. Figures 4-7, please clarify x and y-axis

6. Figure 10 is not clear

7. Figure 11 not clear

8. Figure 13 not clear

9. Figure 15, the titles of x and y-axis should be written without capital letters

10. Please reorganize again the conclusion, merge the points
