Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In the paper the influence of the correlation distance on the probability distributions of the side friction and tip resistances was studied. This is nice paper worth publication in Sustainability however minor revision is highly recommended.

1. In the Introduction part the novelty of the paper should be more clearly described.

2. Please avoid lump citation. When you cited the literature one or two sentence related to the citated literature should be added (see for instance line 45).

3. Please use the typical reaserch paper structure: introduction, materials and methods (chapter 2-4); results and discussion (chapter 5 and 6) and conclusions (should be added separately) parts.

4. what about errors analysis?

Line 81: Add a space before references cited as numbers in text, for eg. Line 36: add a space between other and [1-4]. Make this correction throughout the manuscript.

Line 82-84: clear extra spacing before parameters

Figure 1: Expand “CPT”, qc and fs and make the figure title more descriptive

Heading 5.1: Expand “CPT”

Line 141: The term “Figure” is repeated also “1” should not be bolded. Similarly in line 148 use either Figs. 2 and 3 or Figure 2 and Figure 3. Check throughout and keep consistent

Line 158: The term “table” is repeated, remove an extra and check throughout

Line 157-158: Keep spacing between lines consistent

Line 253-254: Add a supporting reference

Reviewer 3 Report

This study investigates the Influence of soil correlation distance on pile foundation failure probability. The topic itself is good. However, there are a number of issues in the manuscript require major revision before second round of revision.

1. Line 19-20 is hard to comprehend please revise. Overall, the abstract is not well-written, please make it more technical and understandable.

2. Lines 32-33 require citation as general statements must be well supported by the literature in the Introduction section. Please consider the following citation here. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.trgeo.2022.100781

3. Spatial distribution of soil properties have been recently discussed by the literature; however authors didnt include literature related to spatial distribution of soil characteristics, which is important. Please add some information related to spatial distribution considering the following citations.

https://doi.org/10.1007/s12665-021-10084-z

4. Line 100: Spatial average method needs more elaboration since it is very important for the current study.

5. Overall, the writing style needs improvement, this paper is difficult to comprehend due to improper writing.

6. Please separate the conclusion and discussion. It is better to provide a discussion first and then concisely discuss the conclusion of this paper.
