Reviewer 2 Report

In this paper are described the traditional dwellings in villages in Heilongjiang Province, that are relevant for the history of Chinese architecture, cause their distinctive regional characteristics and climatic features. The authors would to understand the relevance of traditional houses in Heilongjiang villages and provide a theoretical basis for further renewal or protection of  these traditional buildings.

these interesting premises are not developed in the text, unfortunately

The paper focuses only on the description of the case study. It lacks comparison with an international context.

You can read:

1) ICOMOS-IFLA PRINCIPLES CONCERNING RURAL LANDSCAPES AS HERITAGE

2) Cultural Heritage, Landscape & Rural Development. Good Practice, Methodology, Policy Recommendations & Guidelines for Rural Communities

3) there are many articles about rural heritage conservation in "Built heritage", Springer, ISSN: 2662-6802 (electronic).

The methodology adopted is not described. Furthermore, it is little clear on the basis of what considerations the described buildings can be considered as cultural value.

You must reread the text carefully: spelling and tabulation errors are present

Reviewer 3 Report

Dear colleagues,

The subject addressed in this work is a topical one, namely the spatial evolution of traditional village dwellings in Heilongjiang province, China.

I have only one suggestion:

The inclusion in the introduction chapter of a review of specialized literature at an international level regarding traditional homes. Where has this subject been studied before, in which regions of the world? from what point of view were traditional houses approached? what is missing from the specialized literature (research gap)? what new does your study bring?

Sincerely,

Reviewer 4 Report

The study presents a deep and large description of the Dwellings in Heilongjiang Province, but none of the listed tasks are included in the paper: "field investigations, questionnaires," or "discusses the sustainable development process of traditional village dwellings." The paper needs clarity in defining the problem and a goal to solve it, accessing the literature, and applying a method to gather data to back and enable the discussion along with others studies (from the literature cited). The Conclusions should be unequivocal from any point of view.

1. Reconsider the title to include one of the approaches written in the abstract.

2. The abstract fails to provide the key problem with the dealings and provide numerical key findings.

2.1. Clarify the conflict information given in the abstract:

a) "In order to study the spatial form of traditional village dwellings in Heilongjiang Province"

b) "this paper conducted field investigations, questionnaires, surveying and mapping on traditional village dwellings in Heilongjiang Province"

c) "This paper discusses the sustainable development process of traditional village dwellings in Heilongjiang Province"

d) "this paper puts forward some feasible suggestions on the problems of traditional village dwellings in Heilongjiang Province in the development process, especially the problems of population loss, idle and abandoned houses,"

3. Introduction — provides a deep and long description of the house's evolution.

4. Literature review — not presented.

5. Methodology — not presented.

6. Discussion — no presented. The section summarizes the previous historical information, and non-data is gathered or provided to back the written between 334 to 347.

7. Conclusions — fails to provide tangible data to back the stated.

8. References — a few fail to provide authors' names.
