The interplay between digital technologies, supply chain resilience, robustness and sustainable environmental performance: Does supply chain complexity matter?

This research explores how supply chain resilience and robustness influence the connection between digital tech use and sustainable environmental performance, as well as how supply chain complexity affects this relationship. Surveying 292 Egyptian manufacturing supply chain managers and analyzing the data with Smart-PLS 4, the study finds that resilience and robustness partially bridge the gap between digital tech and environmental performance. Furthermore, complexity in supply chains enhances the positive impact of digital tech on resilience and robustness. The model accounts for over half of the variability in robustness and resilience and the majority in environmental performance, offering valuable insights for shaping corporate policy to foster better supply chain management and sustainable progress. ut the paper needs some revision to improve the quality:

#1 The paper mentions the impact of COVID-19 on global supply chains but does not elaborate on the specific challenges and opportunities faced by Egypt's manufacturing industry. The authors are advised to explore in depth the unique situation of Egypt's manufacturing sector during the pandemic and how digital technologies have helped these enterprises tackle the crisis.

#2 The paper constructs its research framework based on the Information Processing Theory (IPT) but does not sufficiently demonstrate the detailed application of IPT in the field of supply chain management. The authors are advised to clearly explain how IPT aids in understanding the relationship between digital technologies, supply chain resilience, robustness, and sustainable environmental performance.

#3 The paper mentions the use of surveys and SmartPLS software for data analysis but does not provide specific details about the survey design, data collection process, and sample selection. The authors are advised to provide detailed content of the survey and how they ensured data quality and representativeness.

#4 The paper lists several measurement indicators for variables but does not provide the process and basis for constructing these indicators. The authors are advised to describe in detail the measurement methods for each variable, including how to develop survey items and ensure their reliability and validity.

#5 The paper presents results of hypothesis testing but does not offer sufficient analysis to interpret these results. The authors are advised to provide more in-depth data analysis, such as path analysis, cross-validation, or exploratory analysis of potential variables.

#6 The results section requires a more thorough discussion. The authors should discuss the significance of the results for theory and practice and acknowledge the limitations of the study. Additionally, the authors should discuss how the results align with or contradict existing literature.

#7 The paper includes charts and models but does not provide detailed explanations or how they support the discussion in the text. The authors are advised to ensure that all charts and models are clear, accurate, and closely related to the textual content.

#8 Ensure that the paper follows the journal's formatting requirements, including citation format, chart labeling, abstract length, etc.

In the article, the authors describe the interplay between digital technologies and the supply chain and how digital technology affects sustainable environmental performance. The article is well structured. Table names should be arranged differently as described later. The pictures are well labeled. The used literature is relevant. The article is understandable and well structured.

Line 33: the term sustainability is broad. It is necessary to define exactly what is referred to, as the ecological, economic, or social component of sustainability.

Lines 47 to 49: this is correct, but it should be emphasized that the pandemic has also resulted in the emergence of a new paradigm of business that emphasizes the shortening of supply chains, which means the possibility that local organizations begin to develop and grow, and thus also lead to economic and economic development local organizations.

Lines 56 to 59: it is necessary to clarify the link between safety and cleanliness and the external environment. It is not clear from the current sentence.

In Chapter 3.1. it is necessary to draw attention to the risks of cyberattacks that can result in the theft of data on customers, suppliers, and the like, thereby disrupting business continuity or the reliability of the supply chain itself.

Chapter 3.2. The statements are correct, but it should be taken into account that partial digitization in the supply chain will not result in benefits for the entire supply chain, but only for one part of it. Digital transformation requires significant financial investments as well as a change in the structure of employees, considering that it is necessary to ensure a different profile of the workforce. Likewise, digital technologies mean the need for the production of various electronic components, ensuring a sufficient amount of electricity, the problem of recycling electronic components, etc., which should be mentioned in the article.

Table 1. It is necessary to extract the name of the table from the table.

In chapter 4.1. it is necessary to describe whether the sample used is representative, as well as the method of purifying the collected data.

Table 2. It is necessary not to extract the name of the table from the table.

Given that Table 2 moves to another page, the part of the table that is on the second page should have labels for each column to make it easier to follow.

Table 3. Listed are the variables that are indicated by numbers. This is understandable for researchers who have encountered this type of research in the past, but it can be problematic for researchers who have not encountered this type of research processing. If this way of marking variables is applied, it is suggested that each mark of each variable be attached to the question to which it refers. In other words, DT-1 joins the full construct of the question to which DT-1 refers.

The research examines generally all variables, which is acceptable. It is suggested that the authors consider processing the research to take into account each specific variable and consider how each specific variable from the DT group affects, for example, the overall level of DT to identify the strongest relationship.
