The journal retracts the article “Evaluation of a Microbial Consortium and Selection of a Support in an Anaerobic Reactor directed to the Bio-treatment of Wastewater of the Textile Industry” [1], cited above.
Following publication, concerns were brought to the attention of the publisher regarding a duplication between this article [1] and an earlier publication [2] originating from a similar authorship group and published in another language.
Adhering to our complaints procedure, an investigation was conducted by the Editorial Office that confirmed significant duplication between the above-mentioned publications. While there is a common author between the two publications, the failure of the authors to adhere to MDPI’s translation policy (https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#_bookmark18), confirm appropriate permission to re-publish from the copyright holder, and clarify the appropriateness of the listed authorship list led the Editorial Board and a number of the listed authors to agree to retract this article [1] as per MDPI’s retraction policy (https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#_bookmark30).
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sustainability.
Theofilos Toulkeridis agrees to the retraction, and the remaining authors did not provide a comment on this decision.
