Active Learning for Recognition of Shipwreck Target in Side-Scan Sonar Image
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The authors reworking of the paper, especially the methodology section was very well done. However a few minor points remain in this section. Some misleading nomenclature redundances need to be corrected. Please check the usage of all parameters in your equations. E.g. h appears as exponent, classifier and filter function. This is quite confusing, when trying to connect all the presented methods in your final detection workflow.
Furthermore, in my opinion, the question remains, how diverse the different seabottom reflection patterns are in your 30 example-dataset for images 1 and 2, and how that would influence the results of fractal features. What happens, if other man-made objects or larger geological structures appear? This should at least be discussed.
Some other minor points:
Line 110, I think it should say "copies of X" not r
Line 132, Nr can be computed...
Figure 2: The label on the fractal dimension axis is broken
Figure 4: I suggest, you add the tested features in row 4.
Table 2: "; a component learn algorithm, the number of cycles T" makes no sense
There are still no scales ([m]) in figures 6 and 7
I know, that everyone handing in papers reads that sentence very often, but I really do think, that the paper would benefit from checking by a native english speaker.

Dear Reviewer:
Please find our revised manuscript entitled “Active Learning for Recognition of Shipwreck Target in Side-Scan Sonar Image” [remote sensing- 424234].
We sincerely appreciate you for your valuable comments and feel encouraged by your feedback. We thank you gratefully for your valuable comments and suggestions that greatly improved our paper. The concerns of the comments for improvement of the paper have been addressed. Before presenting our responses in detail, we summarize the major changes in the revised manuscript as follows:
1) The usage of all parameters in the equations and the manuscript were checked in the revised manuscript.
2) As “extensive English editing” are required, an English editing service was asked for checking the grammar, spelling, punctuation and some improvement of style for the manuscript provided by MDPI.
Our point-by-point responses to the reviewers' comments are given as follows. The sentences in bold and italic are the reviewers' comments which are followed by our responses.
The changes in the revised manuscript are all marked in red fonts.
We are looking forward to your response.
