Folate and Vitamin B12 Status in Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Patients
Highlights
- In cases where the hematopoietic system is restructured and formed, such as HSCT, the need for vitamin B12 and folic acid may increase in pediatric patients.
- In high-stress situations, like stem cell transplantation in children, continuous monitoring of vitamin B12 and folic acid levels should be considered.
- Protocols used in healthy children are inadequate for HSCT patients.
- Future studies are requested to further clarify issues around vitamin B12 and folate in pediatric HSCT patients.
