Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript, entitled “Thermodynamic properties and equation of state for tungsten”, has constructed a state for tungsten using experimental data, and provided a well fit to the whole set of experimental data. While some problems still need to be solved. Special comments are listed below:

1 What are the theoretical innovations to the model? How was it realized?

2 Does this model take into account the structural changes in tungsten at different temperatures?

3 In Fig.2-Fig.4, why was the data that did not fit the modelled curves not discussed? How did you screen these data?

4 Line 30-37, you said ‘There is a number of works ... in a wide pressure and temperature range were built ’, while following you mentioned that all the works do not cover the low-temperature region. They are conflicted to each other.

5 Line 192-193, you said ‘The relationship obtained in the present study is a good approximation of the data reported in [11]. ’ However, no data from reference [11] is available in Fig. 1 and 2, how do you conclude it?

6 In Fig.7, the simulation curves presented do not fit the data in low temperatures from reference [49] and [50], so how to prove that your equation of state for tungsten is suitable for low temperatures? Why do not you discuss it?

This is a nice piece of work, summarizing the recent experimental works and providing an equation of state for tungsten with broad temperature and pressure ranges.

There are some missing words and typos.
