Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

the paper has a very good and sound experimental design which includes many parametrs.

I do appreciate the try to compine everything, THough please rewrite the conclution paragraph to be more explicite.

Also the abstract does not include precise conclutions

  1. The paper has a very good and sound experimental design, which includes many parameters.
    • Thank you very much.
  2. I do appreciate the try to combine everything, though please rewrite the conclusion paragraph to be more explicit.
    • We rewrote the conclusion part to make it precise and add value to it. Please refer to the manuscript (L 588-612).
  3. Also the abstract does not include precise conclusions.
    • We added more precise conclusions in the abstract. Please refer to the abstract of the manuscript (L 14-25).

We further split Table 3 in two so that the results are presented more pleasantly and clearly.

Reviewer 2 Report

Materials and methods. Revise the first two sentences of the section: written in this way it is unclear that the three salad and the two cocktail tomato types are the five breeding lines, examined the study.

It will be worth to add some information about the plant protection practices in both field and greenhouse environments, as well as information about soil fertility management in the organic field.

You can consider to merge sections 2.5 and 2.6 since TPC and antioxidant activity are also related to fruit quality parameters.

Add methodology for mineral elements analyses.

Some minor errors: line 86 - delete radiation outside the brackets; line 144-145 - add total phenolic content; line 222 - TSP - add the full name

  1. Materials and methods. Revise the first two sentences of the section: written in this way it is unclear that the three salad and the two cocktail tomato types are the five breeding lines, examined the study.
    • We revised the first paragraph of the material and methods part according to your suggestion.
  2. It will be worth to add some information about the plant protection practices in both field and greenhouse environments, as well as information about soil fertility management in the organic field.
    • We added information to the plant protection methods applied in both hydroponic and organic cultivation systems and we incorporated the information that no fertilizer was used in the organic cultivation system during the growing period.
  3. You can consider to merge sections 2.5 and 2.6 since TPC and antioxidant activity are also related to fruit quality parameters.
    • Thank you for this suggestion. This is a good consideration, but we did not combine the two sections because we thought there could be too much information in the section, which will make it difficult to read.
  4. Add methodology for mineral elements analyses.
    • Please find the methodology part for the mineral analyses in L 168-169. For detailed information on the analysis, please refer to Kanski L, Naumann M, Pawelzik E. 5. Some minor errors: line 86 - delete radiation outside the brackets; line 144-145 - add total phenolic content; line 222 - TSP - add the full name
    • We corrected all indicated errors in the text and added the name of the abbreviation in the manuscript.
