Molecular Research Progress on Xishuangbanna Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. var. Xishuangbannesis Qi et Yuan): Current Status and Future Prospects
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript under the title “Molecular Research Progress on Xishuangbanna Cucumber 2 (Cucumis sativus L. var. Xishuangbannesis Qi et Yuan): Current 3 Status and Future Prospects”
The manuscript is a very important topic and informative, it has new knowledge.
A few points can be corrected by authors:
Line 53 "colour" the authors wrote it as "color" and "colour", please use one in the whole manuscript.
Line 53 the word "percussor" are you mean this word or do you mean "precursor"....so, please clarify
Line 201 figure 1 is similar to the pictures published in the paper "DOI 10.1007/s11032-011-9624-4" by Bo et al. 2011
Therefore, the authors should clarify if they used this source or the pictures are original.
Line 280 "Table 1. This is a table. Tables should be placed in the main text near to the first time they are cited". I can not understand what this? please write the table title.

Dear authors,
The results presented are important . However, my concerns are the following:
Abstract (Lines 11-29): The authors should follow the instructions for authors (Agronomy | Instructions for Authors (mdpi.com)). The abstract should be a single paragraph and should follow the style of structured abstracts.
Lines 42 – 46: The nutritional data should include the deviations (not just the average) for energy, protein content, total lipids, carbohydrates, calcium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin A etc.
Lines 65 – 68: The sentence is not clear. In what manner the XIS cucumber can contribute.
Lines 134, 139: et al. should be italic.
Lines 208 -209: Shortly describe what are the molecular markers.
Line 280: “This is a table. Tables should be placed in the main text near to the first time they are cited.” should be omitted and the title of the table should be written instead.
Line 315: “Arabidopsis thaliana” should be in italic.
Overall, mine suggestion is that the manuscript would be acceptable with minor revision.
Good luck!

The aim of the study was to pay attention again at molecular research progress on xishuangbanna cucumber
(Cucumis sativus L. var. Xishuangbannesis Qi et Yuan): current
status and future prospects. Such manuscripts were publish many times before, so in first slight I dont recommend to publish this article on the pages of the scientific.
The manuscript is unclear in content, many repetitions, carlessly written and uninteresting. The material and method part is well structured and well described. The results and discussion is clear, easy to follow and providing the reader well elaborated results discussion. However, the whole thing does not meet the basic requirements of a research article. Lack of innovation, citing the obvious, does not promote this manuscript.
