Reviewer’s Comments

The manuscript “The effects of adjuvants on the wetting and deposition of pesticide solutions on superhydrophobic crop leaves” by Song et al. describes the performance of different adjuvants on target leaves which is of great interest.

·      Introduction: The introduction section is crisp and concise. It clearly described the background and purpose of the study. Just check and refine the language to eliminate possible grammatical and/or spelling errors before publication.

  • Results and Discussion: The results of the study are clear and well described.
  • The conclusion can be shortened.
  • There are some irrelevant reference citations in the Ms that need to be eliminated (e.g., Reference no. 4, 30, 32). The authors have given many citations to their own group, restricting them to fewer numbers.

The details given by the authors in the manuscript are good and I recommend the publication after minor improvements.

Reviewer 2 Report

The title of the article should be change because is to general. Not all kind of pesticides used in agriculture production will cooperate with adjuvants like presented in the papers. It depends on formulation, active ingredients, inners additives and other chemical compositions. So my suggestion is:

“The effects of adjuvants on the wetting and deposition of insecticide solutions on hydrophobic wheat leaves”

Line 25: …of insecticide solutions…..

Line 62: to describe …of what?

Line 90: Triticum aestivum – italic

Line 91: Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Plant Protection – is the name of the Institution

Line 92: 16 hours of light and 8 hours of darkness

Line 114: conditions were not are

Line 130: The stage was connected not is ….

Line 131: were separated not are

Line 189 and 191: Thi-LC insecticide

General: Decided about the name of Beidatong. On all figures (not with figure 8) should be writing  Beidatong not Bei Datong?

Line 199: of insecticide not of pesticide

Line 241: …the surface tension of tested insecticide

Line 333: insecticide not pesticide

Line 338: …run-off (POR) of tested insecticide solutions…..

Line 341: …surface tension of Thi-LC not pesticide

Line 345: ..pests and diseases or weeds in the field…
