Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript titled "Effects of Nozzle Types and Spraying Volume on the Control of Hypera postica Gyllenhal by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle" by Hui et al., submitted to Agronomy aims to establish efficient pesticide spraying techniques for pest control in alfalfa fields, providing guidance for green control of alfalfa leaf weevils.

This manuscript deals with an important topic for the pest control sector, and it is considered one of the necessary topics for researchers. There are some comments that authors need to see and implement. These comments are found in the attached file of the manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is well written and the explanation of the problem and the conduct of the study and the experimental part are very clear.

The topic is very timely and can have great practical application.

The experiment is well described and the results are comforting.

The research was conducted in a scientifically very careful and adequate manner. The exposition in the manuscript of the methodology and results is very clear, very detailed and proceeds in well described and argued steps. The introduction very comprehensively lays out the state of the art and sets the stage for the development of the research.

The statistics applied through the ANOVA and the post-hoc test for statistical significance between the averages of the compared conditions is well developed and is very clearly set out and also described in the graphs.

The manuscript is clear, comprehensive and proportionate in all its parts.

I suggest only a few changes to improve the publication:

- It would be good to indicate the location of the experimental field, for example with a map of the whole test field or the area where it is located.

- In Fig. 1: Why 0.8 x 10? what is 10? perhaps the number of intervals? In this way, it looks like a measurement.

- In the control effect formula, "x 100" should be on the same line.

- In fig 4, the lettering is too small

- I suggest adding a literature reference about the effect of distribution modes on the distribution of liquids on leaves. For example, in the introduction you could add, "Experimental trials have shown the different distribution that can occur as a function of pressure and velocity or even mode of distribution (Failla and Romano, 2020)"

[Failla, S.; Romano, E. Effect of Spray Application Technique on Spray Deposition and Losses in a Greenhouse Vegetable Nursery. Sustainability 2020, 12, 7052. https://doi.org/10.3390/su12177052].

For everything else, I congratulate the authors for their work and their care and attention.

Dear reviewer,

We are so grateful for the excellent suggestions and the detailed revising from you. We have benefited greatly by the revision. Now we explain your questions firstly point by point, and then made modification accordingly.

- It would be good to indicate the location of the experimental field, for example with a map of the whole test field or the area where it is located.

Response: We have provided detailed information about the experimental field, including specific longitude and latitude.

- In Fig. 1: Why 0.8 x 10? what is 10? perhaps the number of intervals? In this way, it looks like a measurement.

Response: 0.8m is the distance between two sampling points, and 10 refers to all sampling points having 10 intervals, we had deleted it.

- In the control effect formula, "x 100" should be on the same line.

Response: Thanks for the great suggestion, we have modified it.
