Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Editor,

I have included some minor corrections that should be included in the text. Finally, it is recommended that the conclusions include contributions of this work to the issue of environmental sustainability of the production system and how this work can be optimized with future work focused on fertigation issues.

greetings

Drip irrigation soil-adapted sector design and optimal location of moisture sensors: a case study in a vineyard plot

Jaume Arnó1,*, Asier Uribeetxebarria2, Jordi Llorens1,4, Alexandre Escolà1, Joan R. Rosell-Polo1, Eduard Gregorio1, José A. Martínez-Casasnovas3

Line 105: Are the soil properties only that generate the main cause of variably? What about aerodynamic (weather) factors and vegetation cover? Please, add citations to support your statement.

Line 125: Add the scientific name of the vine.

Line 139: To show the significance of the case study on ECa, you must provide litterateurs indicating that vines are sensitive (indeed they are specifically during berry development) to soil salinity.

Line 172: What is the basis of discrepancies between the low and high ECa)? What are the ranges for low and high ECa?

Line 216: Add (manufacturer company, state, country).

Line 314: Update the citation.

Line 400: The ANOVA is not clearly stated. Are you comparing among different locations or depths of the soil? Make it clear for the reader.

Line 649: Soil spatial or soil depth protocol?

Line 651: As indicated earlier, specify how low /or high ECa should be to categorize the soil as low or high ECa?

5. The references cited in the text are rather old and it is suggested to add high quality and newer relevant literature.

6. The text mentions the use of the k-means algorithm for clustering ECa data, but does not describe the algorithm in detail, please describe the k-means algorithm to ensure that the reader has a good understanding of this section.

7. Please provide an introduction to the MANOVA methodology to ensure that the reader fully understands the content of the article.

8. In the section on locating moisture probes in the article, there are fewer evaluation indicators for the prediction results, and it is recommended to increase the number of evaluation indicators, such as R2 and RMSE, in order to ensure the scientific validity of the prediction results.

9. Please indicate how the research in this paper adds to the field in order to highlight the innovation and contribution of this paper.
