A Hydrological Modeling Approach for Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change on Runoff Regimes in Slovakia
Round 1

The paper 'A Hydrological Modeling Approach for Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change on Runoff Regimes in Slovakia' is a very well written and structured paper presenting a nice work on assessing climate change impact on eight basins in Slovakia. The text starts with a nice introduction, then it presents the baseline climate in the basins, the future climate and finally, it analyzes the hydrologic results from the application of the future climate with the HBV model. Everything looks reasonable, the results mainly show the runoff will increase during winter and decrease during summer, and this is well supported by the results. I think that the study could be very useful for the water community in Slovakia but also for decision makers. Since both methods and language are fine, the paper is suitable for publication in water. My only suggestion is to include in a table the optimum parameters of HBV per basin. Now, only calibration ranges are provided. Finally, can the authors talk about the parameterization and calibration of the model some more? At what level the parameters were initialized and how the optimum values were reached (how the algorithm works)? Some brief information would be useful regardless the reference to other papers.
