Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Wastewater treatment using constructed wetlands is one of very important issues in environmental sciences. It is interesting and useful that the authors have reviewed Constructed Wetlands (CWs) as a solution for sustainable sanitation. In general, the MS was written sound. Hence, it is recommended to be published after some revisions.

1.     Delete the contexts related to Nature based solutions (NBS)”, except for Nature based solutions (NBS)” explanation in “2. Definition of NBS, CWs Types, and the usage in sanitation system” in P 2 L68-76.

2.     Add more pollutants such as heavy metals in this sentence “CWs can efficiently remove the following components from wastewaters: suspended solids, organic matter, and excess nutrients, as well as natural remains of pathogens.” and following contents related to treatment Mechanisms in pollutant removal.

3.     It is should add the suggestions for future possible studies and solutions, since you pointed out “Challenges and disadvantages”. It is very important for reviewing MS.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper is showing a very interesting title maybe it is focused by the author to study the  CW types, treatment process, sustainability criteria, limitations, and challenges of CWs but it needs to be more detailed with more representation of plots( patterns, block diagrams, charts, and more tables as well.

Also, the English language needs to be checked and some typo errors are required to be edited.
