“Spatial Change of the Farming-Pastoral Ecotone in North China from 1985 to 2021”
This manuscript studies the farming-pastoral ecotone in North China. The topic is important due to global climate change. However, lacks of explanations have been found in the current manuscript. These are pointed out below. Please add supplemental explanations.
Major recommendations
1. The Introduction Section: The farming-pastoral ecotone is a global phenomenon. Thus the authors should add some information concerning different countries and key publications should be cited.
2. The Introduction Section: The authors should carefully review the research field and cite key publications. However, there are 14 citations of primarily Chinese researchers. It is advisable to add citations from others countries. It will enrich this paper.
Minor recommendations
1. Line 74-75: “this paper aims to announce the changes in FPE in northern China 74 from 1985 to 2021 at pixel scale.” It would be better if the authors substitute the term “to announce” with more suitable one, for example, to study, to investigate, to analyze, etc.
2. Line 85: “… and 2021 [15]（https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5816591）.” I suppose that the following wording will be better ““… and 2021 [15].”
3. Equation (1): The text following an equation need not be a new paragraph.
4. Line 208: “2021(Figure 4错误!未找到引用源。).” What does it mean? Please use English in the text.
5. Line 249: “… increased area(Figure 8错误!未找到引用源。).” What does it mean? Please use English in the text.
6. Line 408: “ … is 13,100km2, …” The authors should use a gap between 13,100 and km2.
7. The Conclusions Section: The prospects for further research should be more specifically and described.
Tables should be done according to instructions for authors.
