The authors have asked one important question about the role of real estate in post-disaster management. I believe that this is a question worth asking. However, I am very concerned about the research method that the authors used to answer the question. I do not think that this question can be answered properly from a literature review only. My major comments are given below.

First, what are the exact criteria to choose those studies? How can the authors make sure that they have collected all relevant studies?

Second, assuming that the literature is comprehensive, the quality of studies in the review would affect the arguments of this paper. According to the reference provided, most of the papers in the review are not from good/top journals. How can readers expect that the analysis in the paper is valid?

Third, I recommend that the authors should do some real case studies, provide some theoretical analysis on the role of real estate and use relevant cases to test the arguments.

Lastly, real estate is actually a bunch of legal rights and is also associated with the financial/land/construction market. The more important factors for post-disaster management could be legal issues, resources, or others. Real estate (and the spatial balance) could be the outcome of the system.

The main question addressed by the research is how can real estate be a driver of a disaster resulting in spatial imbalance, which is a relevant topic in the field because it proposes a specific paper about the way real estate may be a tool for achieving socio-spatial balance in the context of urban recovery among developing communities. This is also the added value of the research. The methodology is good and the analysis is carried out correctly with an in-depth analysis of the results. Figures and tables are ok.

Pay attention to the text "The diagram below illustrates the sequence of the systematic review process followed in this paper (Error! Reference source not found.)." The phrase "Error! Reference source not found" can be found also elsewhere.

Among the disasters, there is no sign of covid-19, which has strongly affected real estate. Please, add it starting from the Introduction by taking into reference the following paper: https://www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/14/1/457/htm. Here you can find an interesting paragraph "2.2. The Post-COVID-19 City" in which you may address some of the features of covid-19 and real estate, especially in relation to urban voids, which is somehow connected to "Land degradation" "Worldwide" (see table 2). Please, also see the references https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0094119021000632,  https://www.research.manchester.ac.uk/portal/files/176707448/Carson_etal_2020_Imagining_a_Post_Covid_19_World_of_Real_Estate.pdf, https://siepr.stanford.edu/publications/policy-brief/donut-effect-how-covid-19-shapes-real-estate

I also suggest introducing a striking reference in the field of study, i.e. the volume "Routledge Companion to Real estate development" , https://www.routledge.com/Routledge-Companion-to-Real-Estate-Development/Squires-Heurkens-Peiser/p/book/9781032096582, that can make your paragraph 4.1. Real Estate Challenges stronger.

I also found that the explaination of the case study seleciton misses some elements. Why do you select only cases from the global south?

In the conclusion I highly suggest to address the specific challenges that real estate is facing after the 2020 pandemic outbreak on the basis of the abovementioned references.

This is why I require a new version of the paper before acceptance.

The manuscript is significant for the journal’s profile, achieving spatial balance in post-disaster countries through real estate is very important issue.

The method is somehow very interesting even, for example, I used more literature review.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

I am not satisfied with the responses to my previous comments in Points 2 and 3. The authors should give a more valid analysis of their collection of relevant literature (comprehensiveness and depth). The key question is not answered: How can readers expect that the analysis in the paper is valid if it relies on some papers with low quality?
