Dear Authors,

The prediction of the result of magnetic pulse welding based solely on numerical analysis is not supported as a real-world application, and you must carry out the experimental evaluation based on your findings. The amount of deviation between the prediction model and the experimental one is a very important factor in considering the real outcome of the research.

Those comments are all valuable and very helpful for revising and improving our paper, as well as the important guiding significance to our researches. We have studied comments carefully and have made correction which we hope meet with approval. The main corrections in the paper and the responds to the reviewer’s comments are as flowing:

We have received your suggestion. Only the prediction of welding results by numerical simulation is not rigorous. Due to our negligence, we did not put the real object based on simulation parameters. Your suggestions are of great help to improve our manuscript. According to your suggestion, we added a comparison chart at the end of the paper, slightly changed the content, explained the pictures, in order made the article more complete, which are reflected in lines 367-384of the paper

In other parts of the article, we have also made changes that are marked in the revised manuscript, which we have not specifically reflected here.

In addition to the above modifications, we have carefully checked and improved the English writing in the revised manuscript.

1.  What is the main contribution of the paper to the field?

2.  Add more quantitative results to the abstract.

3.  Remove fig 1 from the introduction and place it in the better section.

4.  Please provide a more thorough discussion for Figure 3.

5.  How do you select the near-air element region?

6.   Provide more discussion in fig 6.

7.  Welding has the main role in the new manufacturing process called additive manufacturing. Authors are encouraged to add a paragraph in the introduction and mention that welding has more usage in different applications such as additive manufacturing by adding the new papers in the field.

  1. What is the main contribution of the paper to the field?

We have considered the question carefully. In this paper, by using Magnetic pulse welding, the 1060 Al alloy and AZ31B Mg alloy were connected successfully. The velocity of magnetic pulse welding is usually more than several hundred meters, it is difficult to capture the relevant data in the process by traditional experimental methods. Using FEM software can better help people know the transient forming of MPW process and guide the industry production, which are specifically reflected in lines 68-74 of the paper

  1. Add more quantitative results to the abstract.

We have carefully considered your suggestion. In the process of writing the paper, we have focused on the introduction of the simulation process and neglected the embodiment of the data. Your suggestion is of great help to the improvement of our paper. We revised the abstract of the paper and added specific values, which are reflected in lines 10-29 of the paper

  1. Remove fig 1 from the introduction and place it in the better section.
  2. Please provide a more thorough discussion for Figure 3.

Based on the third and fourth suggestions, we put the first paragraph and figure 1 of the introduction into the third part. The original figure 3 is a supplement to figure 1. We found that this layout can better reflect the structure of the article, and the description of Figure 3 is more clear. We have simply rewritten this part. See lines 112-133 for details.

  1. How do you select the near-air element region?

The selection of near-air element region is based on the simulation results of three-dimensional magnetic field. According to the three-dimensional magnetic field simulation results, only the magnetic field around the coil is large, and the magnetic field decays rapidly with the increase of distance. According to this phenomenon, the near-air element region is selected.

  1. Provide more discussion in fig 6.

We have provided more discussion about Fig 6, which is shown in the revised manuscript, in lines 162-172.
