Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In the paper the importance of a series of oxides in the dephosphorization of a converter is discussed, analyzing the effect of additions of Na2O, with an experimental part that was completed with the Matlab software. A Gibbs rule thermodynamic calculation of the effects of Na2O on the phosphorus distribution ratio between the slag and steel, the melting point and the viscosity of the slag system was performed. It is a detailed work that is too theoretical, which is difficult to follow due to the mathematical calculation, which in my opinion is unnecessary. The conclusions are based on the experimental part, although it leaves some gaps that must be filled.

Must complete:

Page 2 (at the end) 2.1.1. How was the composition obtained? Do you only start from a sample? Then 4 samples appear, how have they been selected? Explain it

Page 9: If (4) appears, it is equation 4. The previous ones are also equations. Why do they have the number on the left? If they are equations, you should put eq. X and cite it in the text.

So many equations (14) are excessive, they must be summarized since the Matlab program does it and it is not discussed here.

In Figure 9 the oxides are expressed in %?. It must be indicated.

Strengths

The authors have conceived after adding sodium-containing slagging material, the average dephosphorization rate of blowing for 6 min and end point can reach 62.39% and 72.03%, which is 19.62% and 9.89% higher than that of conventional heats. The average final slag basicity of the test heats is 0.19 lower than that of the conventional heats, while the average w(P2O5) of final slag increased by 0.36%, and average T.Fe is reduced by 0.69%. The average slagging materials consumption of the test heats was 35.93 kg/t, which was 7.24 kg/t lower than that of the conventional heats.

Through thermodynamic calculation, it is found that with the increase of w(Na2O), the phosphorus distribution ratio between slag and molten iron increases significantly, the area of liquid phase zone of slag system increases continuously, and the viscosity decreases continuously.

Weakness

1. Figure 2 is a fuzzy image. The ● ♦ characters are indistinguishable. Introduce multicolor to improve the picture.

2. How can it be explained that the introduction and increase of Na2O at first sharply decreases the P in the liquid metal and increases the P205 in the slag, and then some saturation occurs? Tables 3, 4.

3. Figures 6, 8 should be temperature in oC. The article should stick to one temperature designation system: otherwise it is very difficult to understand. The article has a wide range of temperatures at different properties. It is necessary to systematize in required physically substantiated temperature range.

 4. Figure 7. Comparison of calculated lgLP,cal and measured lgLP,meas , not Comparison of calculated lgLP and measured lgLP. On the abscissa axis is also lgLP,meas .

5. There are no authors references in References.

6. The references need to be updated.
