Profitability of Various Energy Supply Systems in Light of Their Different Energy Prices and Climate Conditions
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The Abbreviation PV needs to be given in full in the abstract. The introduction could benefit from the removal of a "furthermore" start to the sentence. The potential for "take back", that is occupants having a higher indoor temperature rather than energy savings was not addressed. There is some literature on this issue that should be referenced or at least this raised as an assumption that this is equal for all options.

The present document “ Profitability of various energy supply systems in light of their different energy prices and climate conditions” deals with the comparison considering
analyses of the profitability of a ground source heat pump, photovoltaic 12 solar panels, and an integrated ground source heat pump with a PV system, as three energy supply 13 systems for a single-family house in Sweden. The document is interesting and if fulfils the scope of the Journal. Nevertheless, some considerations are indicated.
Abstract. Abstract is adequate, presenting the main objectives and conclusions of the work.
1. Introduction: Introduction is interesting, some figures about Europe and Sweden in terms of energy renovation of single-family houses. Many references are presented to depict different strategies used for energy renovation at that scale.
In this reviewer opinion, introduction should state the general and particular objectives of this research.
2. Methodology. In this section, the particular case study for the developed research is presented. The building is described and the software Energy Plus implemented in the experiment. Different climatic zones and energy supply are described and different formulae for Cost effectiveness evaluations are described
3. Results and discussions. Different considerations for conditions for different climate zones when installing energy supply systems with different energy prices is described, determining the economical parameters for taking decisions. Also PBP values in different climate zones are described when installing energy supply systems with three different 299 energy prices and three interest rates
Presented sensitivity analysis is quite interesting, as it informs to readers how variations on changes in lifespan and energy price in different climate zones will affect to IRR and PBP.
4. Final remarks present some remarkable aspects of the presented analysis. In this reviewer opinion, this section should be included in results and discussion.
Conclusion. This section presents a resume of the previous sections. In this reviewer opinion, authors should clearly state in this section the novelty of their work and how these conclusions could be useful for other climatic conditions, or even similar climatic conditions in other countries, considering different policies of rehabilitation and energy storing and recovering.
