1. I would have liked to read a definition of what is called 'Italian' art and why Venetian art is not part of the former term.

2. I would suggest a consecutive numbering of photos.

3. Where several artworks are listed, perhaps a numerical structure would make their reading easier.

4. Some passages require additional support (please check the notes made on the .pdf document).

The author could have availed by the following bibliograsphical items:

Aristeidou, Aikaterini. 2003. Ανέκδοτα Έγγραφα της Κυπριακής Ιστορίας από το Αρχείο της Βενετίας, Vol. 4. Nicosia: Cyprus Research Centre

Chotzakoglou, Charalambos. 2009. “Unveiling the Venetian art-image of Cyprus: Remarks on the Painting and Architecture on Cyprus during the Period of the Venetian Rule (1489-1571).” In: I Greci durante la venetocrazia: Uomini, spazio, idee (XIII-XVII sec.), Atti del Convegno Internazionale di Studi , Venezia, 3-7 dicembre 2007, edited by Chryssa Maltezou, Angeliki Tzavara, Despina Vlassi, 427-39. Venezia: Istituto Ellenico di studi bizantini e postbizantini di Venezia.

Given, Michael and Hadjianastasis, Marios. 2010. “Landholding and landscape in Ottoman Cyprus.” Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies 34 (1): 38-60.   Also, with regards to the first case of the study, some links to the Man of Sorrows in monumental artworks would be good for comparisons.

Besides minor typos, the author should select and consistently apply ONE system of transcribing Greek to English.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer,

I would like to thank you for your constructive feedback and suggestions, which have helped me improve my study. I made all the changes you suggested, but one (Lines 525-539), as your comments on that section were not visible in the pdf document.

Concerning the images’ awkward numbering, this must be due to the journal’s software, which has changed the continuous and coherent numbering I had in my original text.

I just wanted to let you know that I have resubmitted my revised text, indicating any changes/ additions in red.

Thank you again and best wishes,

Reviewer 3 Report

Excellent article, а very well done research and a very good presentation of its results. Everything shows the expertise of the author on the subject, the depth of her/his conclusions and their credibility.

Agreeing with the author's thesis, I have no remarks to make. All I will allow myself to do is to point out a few typos that have been accidentally made. I mention them solely and only to make the form of the article as excellent as its content.

Line 41 "ichnographically"

Line 225 - extra space between "panel" and "from"

Line 238 - extra space and missing period after "panels"

Line 259 - extra space before "stated"

Line 290 - extra space before "created"

Line 467 - extra space between "sceptres" and "and"

Line 809 - extra space after "matter."

In the Notes: second line of the Note 2 - extra space after "present."
