The review is dedicated to the important and modern topic of soft robots on the base of smart material and composites. The authors showed main trends and methods for the synthesis of such materials, possible applications and challenges.  Many researches were reviewed and commented. There are two comments about the presented manuscript.

First. English language should be improved. Throughout the text, same words and phrases are used in the neighboring sentences, sometimes even in one. It should be replaced with synonyms or pronouns (See Abstract for example and the use of the expression "stimuli-responsive soft robots"; or word "They" when describing the achievements of the reference papers, e.g. lines 251-256). 

Second. The paragraph about the most common polymers and gels used for the soft robots would be welcome.

This study focuses on reporting on recent developments of stimuli-responsive soft robots made of hybrid materials with a narrowed group of material combinations.

There are number of reviews in the same topic of 'stimuli-responsive soft robots' within 2019-2020. Authors should specifically indicate the contribution of this review and difference among those reviews such as

"this review primarily aims to provide the recent progress of hybrid stimuli responsive soft machines combined with functional materials, such as carbon-based nanoparticles,
nanowires, low-dimensional materials, and liquid crystals."
Is there any specific reason identifying these type of material groups? what is inclusion and exclusion criteria for this review?

MoS2-stimuli-responsive composite gels may be a focus area, however this is limited in the manuscript which can be extended to further literature studies and applications.

As indicated in the abstract and introduction; this review focuses on two major parts; materials with their synthesis and their application which is very limited under two subheadings as actuators and sensors.
There are numerous applications of stimuli-responsive soft robots which can be included to enrinch this review and improve its contributions.

Contribution of this review is not clear while several reviews with larger scope of material and applications included in those studies. Authors are suggested to clearly outline the contributions of this review, and how it differs from recent reviews in this topic.
