Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The text is well versed, but it would be better if the authors could add a few of most recent papers published by Dr. Richard Gallo of UCSD.

Author Response

Following your comment about

  1. The section “4.3. Bacterial based nutritional approaches to prevent UV-induced damages” would be strengthened by the discussion of a few more clinical studies/cases, beyond the studies on L. johnsonii and Lactobacillus.

We add Line 314:

Other photoprotective candidates can be considered such as Lactobacillus plantarum HY7714 Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum. (Patra-2020, Hong-2015, Kim-2014).

2. There are a few awkward and incorrect phrasings which should be edited by a English-native for clarity/improved syntax. For example:
Pg 1: “Photoprotection is then necessary” is better written, “Thus, Photoprotection is necessary.”

The english editing has been reviewed by MDPI English services.

Pg 1: Probiotic and postbiotic activity in health and disease: com-parison on a novel polarized ex-vivo organ culture model.” This is a fragment, not a sentence.

We delete the sentence.

Pg 7: “However, they have a remarkable active [68,69]. showed that a topical treatment of human skin with liposomes containing an active photolyase isolated from a cyanobacterium, Anacystis nidulans, was capable of degrading 40% of CDP generated by UVB exposure and also to reduce erythema” The period after the reference is incorrectly placed, and it appears that a word is missing after active (site?).

we add: “Authors”  before showed and  delete active before photolyase

Sincerely yours
