Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1) The introduction is well  structured and the  objectives are very clear and concise.

2) Materials and Methods chapter are quite understandable particularly the section of regression linear, acessible to many stakeholders.

3) However, some sentences must be  revised in order to make more sense.

Line 166 –  I think some text is missing. The idea is not perceptible.

Lines 196 – 197 – The sentence must be re-written in order to highlight that the resultes obtained allow the use of the regression model.

I suggest the following sentence  “The results observed allow to use the following regression model to predict paddy moisture by paddy capacitance and temperature”

4) Some errors were detected

Line 170 –  Is missing a point after the word errors.

Line 209 – I supose there is a mistake.  Should be moisture instead mositure.

Line 210 and line 228 – I suppose the autor means write hardware instead handware.

Line 201 and line 228 - 4.1 and 4.2. The title  is exactly the same. The autor should differentiate the two items.

Line 229 – There is a mistake in evluate. Should be evaluate.

Line 248 – The point must be eliminated. The sentence should be “…..was established and the moisture of paddy…”

5) I suggest a carefully revision in order to find more errors as those mentioned above.

Author Response

Point 1: some sentences must be revised in order to make more sense. Line 166 – I think some text is missing. The idea is not perceptible. Lines 196 – 197 – The sentence must be re-written in order to highlight that the resultes obtained allow the use of the regression model. I suggest the following sentence “The results observed allow to use the following regression model to predict paddy moisture by paddy capacitance and temperature” Response 1: Line 166(Now Line 181)- Because the idea is concluded from the analysis of the previous paragraph and Figure 3, I revised “In summary, ” to “ It can be known from the above analysis and Figure 3 that ”. Line 196-197(Now Line 213-214)- I agree with your comment. I revised the sentence “The regression models which were used to predict paddy moisture by paddy capacitance and temperature at 2 kHz are as follows” to “The results observed allow to use the following regression model to predict paddy moisture by paddy capacitance and temperature”. Point 2: Some errors were detected Line 170 – Is missing a point after the word errors. The sentence should be “…..was established and the moisture of paddy…” Response 2: Line 170(Now Line 186)- Added A point after the word “errors”. Line 209(Now Line 226)- Revised the wrong word “mositure” to “moisture”. Line 210 and Line 228(Now Line 227 and Line 250)- Revised the wrong word “handware” to “hardware”. Line 201 and Line 228(Now Line 227 and Line 251)- Revised the Title 4.2 to “Evaluation of paddy moisture sensor”. Line 229( Now Line 252)- Revised the wrong word “evluate” to “evaluate”. Line 248(Now Line 279)- Revised the sentence “…..was established. And the moisture of paddy…” to “…..was established and the moisture of paddy…”. Point 3: I suggest a carefully revision in order to find more errors as those mentioned above. Response 3: Thank you very much for your comments. I find other errors as follows: Line 124: Revised the wrong word “fourly” to “fourthly”. Line 196: Revised the wrong word “capcacitance” to “capacitance”. Line 245: Revised the wrong word “displsy” to “display”. Line 255: Revised the wrong word “Afer” to “After”. Line 256: Revised the wrong word “operatons” to “operations”.

Reviewer 2 Report

The submitted manuscript presents research on the design of a capacitive paddy moisture sensor based on electrical impedance spectroscopy analysis. Although the detection error is relatively high at high moisture content, the idea and analysis are valuable.
The Authors should provide information on how to improve the detection accuracy if possible.
The Authors defined the change rate of capacitance (Figure 3). You should provide an adequate equation. The "change rate" indicates the time dependence (change rate(t)).
As the dielectric constant is correlated with the capacitance the equation showing this relationship is strongly desired.
Please define capacitance and dielectric constants by equations.

Please read the manuscript one more time and correct language shortcomings.
Lines 210, 227, 228: “Handware” should be “Hardware”.

Author Response

Point 1: The Authors should provide information on how to improve the detection accuracy if possible.

Response 1: Line 264-266-Because the standard deviation of detection residual in evaluation of paddy moisture sensor was 1.23% which is close to the standard deviation 1.14 % in fitting test, in order to improve the detection accuracy, the paddy moisture detection model needs to be optimized in future.

Point 2: The Authors defined the change rate of capacitance (Figure 3). You should provide an adequate equation. The "change rate" indicates the time dependence (change rate(t)).

Response 2: An adequate equation is provided to explain the change rate of capacitance more clearly. The added content is as follows(in Line 165- Line 170):

                                                                 (2)

where CTFCt and f is the change rate of capacitance ,Ct and f max    is capacitance of the experimental sample with maximum moisture content and Ct and f min     is capacitance of the experimental sample with minimum moisture content in temperature t and frequency f. MIt is the difference between the maximum moisture content and the minimum moisture content of experimental samples in temperature t.

Point 3: As the dielectric constant is correlated with the capacitance the equation showing this relationship is strongly desired.

Please define capacitance and dielectric constants by equations.

Response 3: For showing the relationship between capacitance and the dielectric constant. The added content is as follows(in Line 137- Line 141):

                                                                        (1)

where É›0 is the vacuum dielectric constant, É› is the relative dielectric constant of paddy samples, L is the high of coaxial cylindrical capacitor,R1 is the inner cylinder radius of coaxial cylindrical capacitor and R2 is the outer cylinder radius of coaxial cylindrical capacitor.

Point 4: Please read the manuscript one more time and correct language shortcomings.

Lines 210, 227, 228: “Handware” should be “Hardware”.

Response 4:

Lines 210,227,228 (Now Line 226, 250, 251): Revised the wrong word “handware” to “hardware”.

Thank you very much for your comments. I find other errors as follows:

Line 124: Revised the wrong word “fourly” to “fourthly”.
