Reviewer 2 Report

The authors evaluated thawing of soils located at the base of a tall dam using an original model. The study is interesting, and the presentation is fair. The results of the study are useful for other environmental contexts.

I have some major concerns about the lack of characterizarion of the study area and of cross-comparisons with published literature. Some minor observations are reported in the commented MS in attachment.
