Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

thank you for an interesting work. Below you can find some suggestion which may improve your work.

1) Please avoid multiple citations, such as in line 123 (48-53). Please try to describe each reference separately, if possible.

2) Please include the scheme of experimental rig in point 6.

3) my opinion, the way of presenting results in figures 18, 22 and 26 is not good - it will be better to create plots in Excel, Origin or similat software.

4) Please include in discussion the comparison between proposed solution and classic tracking systems.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript presents an optimization methodology for photovoltaic system tracking algorithm. The technique is based in Levy flight, which is currently used in other fields of science and engineering. The article describes its application to this type of renewable energy systems, including simulation and some experimental results. The article can be of interest for other researchers and engineers working in new developments for PV solar technology.

The manuscript describes quite well the methodology, the simulation studies previously performed to test the performance of PV systems using the technique proposed and section 6 presents the experimental set-up and experimental results to validate the tracking approach and the previous simulation results presented, which include steady-state oscillation conditions, interment tracking under non-uniform solar irradiance, and the stability of the system.

My recommendation is to accept the manuscript after minor revision. My minor comments are the following ones:

-The article does not include a specific section to enumerate all acronyms cited in the document. Some of them are even not completely described. It is highly recommended to include such section.

-Same comment applies to the symbols to refer to variables and parameters in the document. It will also help to have a list of symbols, which should include the engineering units (SI units).
