An Outline of Fused Deposition Modeling: System Models and Control Strategies
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript reviews the FDM technology with a focus on the control of the extrusion. It is well written, organized and inclusive with good choices of references and graphs to present the knowledge, techniques and know-hows. Therefore, it is suggested to be accepted in its current format.

Reviewer 2 Report
1.I recommend expanding section 3.2.2. Filament extruder for the division of extruder types used in FFF systems (bowden, direct etc.,)
2. As for a review work, there are too few references, only 33, for the work to meet the standards of a review work, there should be at least 70-80 items.
Please note that the work has 6 authors, with this number of authors it would be appropriate for the number of references in the review to exceed 100.
3. All autotrks are from the same institution, no need to enter numbers next to their names.

Reviewer 3 Report
The Manuscript deals with a review of the main models and control strategies for FDM.
The Manuscript is well written and structured. Nevertheless, the reviewer suggests to solve some flaws before publishing the Manuscript:
- lines 25-26: please add acronyms for each technology;
- lines 27-28: today FDM is also capable to deals with composites and this should be reported in the introduction section;
- lines 28-29: "FDM comprises the following activities:". What is the meaning of activities? This part of the text is too generic and not clear. Please, improve it by providing a more specific and compliant description of what you mean by "activities";
- lines 39-42: the sentence is too generic and not clear. "AM production is limited to one operation" is not agreeable to the reviewer because there are at least another dozen factors that influence AM production. Please, improve this part of the text;
- line 74: "printing technology" - the reviewer thinks the Authors refer to "printing system".
