Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript concerns the case study of water pressure distribution characteristics and lining safety evaluation of deep shaft.  The article addresses an important issue concerning the uncontrolled inflow of groundwater through cracks and fissures towards the shaft, causing additional/non-uniform loads in the shaft lining. Based on monitoring data, the authors of the article performed a statistical analysis of cracks and used the Monte Carlo method as well. Then they performed numerical analysis using FLAC3D software. Based on the obtained results from analyses, they proposed a new method of calculating the shaft lining safety factor. In general, I rate the article at a very good level and recommend it for publication after minor revision following the comments of reviewers. The comments are:

1. Introduction section - please avoid multiple citations/references. Shortly describe them separately or use the most important.

2. The references could be expanded by experiences of European authors

3. Table 1. Please consider changing the units from Pa to MPa.

4. Table 2. What do forward slashes mean?

(1) Introduction section - please avoid multiple citations/references. Shortly describe them separately or use the most important.

The introduction section has supplemented the research results of European and American scholars, and briefly cited references.

(2) The references could be expanded by experiences of European authors

The introduction has supplemented the research results of European

(3) Table 1. Please consider changing the units from Pa to MPa.

Table 1. Table 1 modified unit Pa to MPa.

(4) Table 2. What do forward slashes mean?

Because the table is not wide enough, forward slashes means word hyphens.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors!

From my point of view, quality work has been done.
Although I would like to make a few comments that could improve the quality of this study. Namely:
1) Too large grouping of links [1-8], [18-26] and so on is striking. It's better to be specific about what each particular link describes.
2) And, of course, it is necessary to expand the geography of links.
I acknowledge that Chinese scientists are among the foremost in this field. But still, the publication will be in an international journal. And it is necessary to indicate what is happening in this area in other countries. And I know that similar studies are being carried out by scientists in Poland, Russia, Australia, South Africa and other countries. And great results have been achieved there.

Otherwise, we can only congratulate the authors on an excellent study.
Methods and experiments are described in detail.
The results of modeling and calculations are clearly presented.
The relevance of the topic is also beyond doubt. Mining safety is always a top priority. And research to ensure this safety, to prevent accidents is very important.

I believe that the work can be accepted for publication in the Journal after minor additions and changes.

I wish you good luck with your further research!
