Author Response

We feel great thanks for your professional review work on our article. As you are concerned, there are several problems that need to be addressed. According to your nice suggestions, we have made extensive corrections to our previous draft, the detailed corrections are listed below.

Point 1: Preliminary information can be excluded from section 2 to 4. Instead of that some significant interpretations and results can be discussed relevant to the work accomplished.

Response:We think this is an excellent suggestion. We have added the explanation of simulation results and the analysis of phenomena in the analysis part of the manuscript. For discussion 1, we added an explanation of the results (from line 397 to line 412). For discussion 2, we analyzed the results and explained the phenomenon. (from 462 to 466). For discussion 3, we analyzed the results and explained the phenomenon. (from 499 to 505).

Point 2: Its quite difficult to read results from Figures 3 to 6. Reviewer suggests to modify and make it as journal standard.

Response:We have modified pictures 3 to 6. On the one hand, we added auxiliary lines to help readers better observe the experimental results; on the other hand, we modified some details of the picture, such as changing the color of the lines to better read.

Point 3: Reviewer also suggests to elaborate different force components using free body diagram (FBD).

Response:We sincerely appreciate the valuable comments.

We have carefully revised the picture 1. Taking a section of main cable as an example, we have explained the stress of the main cable in detail, which explains the relationship between the cable end force, gravity and boom force for us to analyze below.

Point 4: Figures 1, 2 and 7 should be properly drawn. It is not up to the journal standard. Kindly modify using figure plotting software. Should be in 600DPI quality. (NOTE: - Refer freely available online plotting software).

Response:We sincerely accepted the suggestions of the reviewers. We used the drawing software to change the resolution of pictures 1, 2 and 7, and the pictures became clearer after the change.

Point 5: Conclusions should be written properly highlighting the novelty of the proposed calculation model. Accordingly modify the Abstract.

Response:We sincerely accepted the suggestions of the reviewers. We have corrected the abstract and conclusion, in which we highlight the novelty of the computational model. (The summary is changed from line 9 to line 26, and the conclusion is changed from line 536 to line 549)

Reviewer 3 Report

I find this article very interesting, both as a topic and as an approach.

As the authors also pointed out, there is not much research on finding the shape for the cables of the suspension bridges.

The approach is interesting in the sense that the traditional method was compared with the proposed one, respectively the adopted algorithm.

As far as the bibliography is concerned, it is with current reference.

The conclusions are objective, other research directions are specified. It would have been interesting if there was a comparison between the methods presented in the introduction, if possible.

Reference section: at each reference you have  [J] or [D]... I do not understand what that stands for. The formatting of the reference section is not done according to the instruction for authors. [J] or [D] are extra, name of the journal should be written in italic, year of a reference from a journal should be in bold.
I can not find reference 3. A dot is missing after the name of the author. For all other references, the dot is missing after the name of the last author, before the title of the paper.

Reference 5... only the nae of the author is needed, not who he was: "5. Tang Maolin was a strong man and Shen was sharp"

The state of the art in the field can be improved using references from the inter-national

I can not agree with the statement "Wei Zhaolin [7] introduced the intelligent optimization algorithm into the main cable shape finding calculation for the first time." as paper [7] is from 2022 and different types of "intelligent algorithms", and here I refer to genetic algorithms, machine learning, evolutionary methods of all types, are used by some time in the research related to suspension bridges.

line 107 - formatting and a missing space

line 156 - on the next page

page 5 - formatting not ok

section 4.2 - formatting

page 9 - space before Table 3

page 10 - Table not ok

Response:We are deeply sorry for the format of the references, and we sincerely accepted the suggestions of the reviewers. We used the document management software to correct the format of the references. For reference 3, we have corrected the correct title of the literature. In the preface, we add some research progress in recent years. (The change of literature section is from line 631 to line 687, the change of literature 3 is from line 636 to line 636, and the change of foreword section is from line 54 to line 87)
