Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors calculated the impact problem of thin isotropic plates with the model of Kirchhoff and Rayleigh. Theoretical derivation and numerical calculation are carried out for the wave propagation in the plate. There are many theoretical models for plate wave, such as the Mindlin theory mentioned in introduction, if the author can compare different models with specific examples, and give suggestions on the selection of different methods in terms of scope of application, error, calculation efficiency, it will make the article more meaningful. To further improve the paper, the following points should be addressed.

  1. The components of the stress, strain, and elastic matrices should not be bolded, and the format of the symbols in Equations (1) and (2) should be the same as in Equation (3).
  2. If εz = 0 is assumed, the equation (8) should be: w = w(x,y,t).
  3. In Figure 4, there are some double arrows. Do they have any special meaning?
  4. In Figure 4 and the following equations, the symbols for shear stress are mixed or incorrectly used, please check carefully.
  5. This paper only deduces the case of Hooke’s model, and other models in Figure 2 are not discussed. It can be considered to be removed.
  6. For Figures 7 to 14, the content of a), b) is repeated with c), and I recommend keeping only Figure c).
