Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Abstract and conclusions must be rewritten. There must be some discussion to support the study. Specific comments arepresent in the manuscript.

Author Response

Abstract and conclusions have been rewritten. I have added the content of "discussion" in section 3.4 of my paper. The other problems you proposed have also been modified. All modifications have been marked in red.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this paper, the authors employ graph theory, computer aided motion, static force and power flow analysis to realize planetary gear mechanism. The motion, static force and efficiency calculations of 6HP26 automatic transmission are carried out. Based on kinematic and static force analysis model, related matrices are acquired. Hence, kinematic and static force analysis of planetary gear mechanism is achieved. The link power can be determined by the link speed and torque. Power flow diagrams of each gear are acquired. The efficiency is calculated by transmission ratio method.

Motivation is strong and well-presented. Design & methodology are novel and presented in a technical manner. I suggest the acceptance of this paper, should the authors prepare a revision based on the following comments.

1. As a graph theorist, I would like to comment that how come all the graphs Figures 9 & 10 are bipartite? is it necessary?

2. How do you calculate the gear matrices C_1--C_6 & C_R?

3. The last paragraph in Introduction is about graph theory and its importance. I wonder how come there are no references in that paragraph. Add references on application of graph theory in finance (doi: 10.1093/imaman/13.3.201), Computer Science & Game Theory (DOI: 10.1016/j.tcs.2019.08.032), Chemistry (DOI: 10.1007/s10822-020-00320-2 & DOI: 10.1016/j.arabjc.2021.102994).

English level is appropriate and just minor edits are required.

Author Response

  1. Figure 9 is connected branch of performance analysis model of 6HP26 automatic transmission. Figure 10 is obtained based on the combination of control components of 6HP26 automatic transmission in different gears. They are bipartite. It’s necessary.
  2. Gear matrix Ci (i=1,2,3,…) is a matrix representing the brake and clutch engagement state of automatic transmission in each gear. When the brake is engaged, the brake component is marked as 1; when the clutch is engaged, one of the two constant velocity components is marked as 1, the other is marked as -1, and other components are marked as 0. The last line of gear matrix is input vector, and the input component is marked as 1, the others are 0.
  3. I have already added all the references you mentioned.
  4. All modifications have been marked in red.

Reviewer 3 Report

The result of the manuscript is interesting. however, I suggest the authors add the photo of PGT instead of the illustration. It would be better.

To enhance the novelty, I think the authors should add more references regarding to the PGT and the efficiency which already reported.

I also suggest the authors to improve the symbol and equation in the sentence.

I suggest the authors to compare and analyze the efficiency with the other results or experimental data.

minor English grammar, conjunction, and punctuation should be improved.

Author Response

  1. I have added the photo of planetary gear train for 6HP26 automatic transmission in Figure 6.
  2. I have added several references regarding to the planetary gear train and the efficiency.
  3. I have improved the symbol and equation in the sentence.
  4. I have compared and analyzed the efficiency in "discussion" of section 3.4.
  5. All modifications have been marked in red.
