In this paper forward and inverse kinematics are used to analyze the breeding blanket.

  • Would you please explain the application of BB in the industry in a few sentences in the introduction?

  • The contribution of this paper is not defined in the introduction. It can be written as items to be clear to readers.

  • In table 1, the caption is mechanical parameters but it is more about length and angles. Are not there any other parameters to be added like materials,…

  • Would you please add the table related to the DH method for forward kinematics to be recalculated for readers?

  • Please add a legend for figures 4 and 5 for blue and red lines

  • Would you please explain how you capture the results of figures 9 and 10? Is it experimental or simulation?

This paper introduced an HKM for BB maintenance in DEMO vacuum vessel and establishes the forward and inverse kinematic models of HKM using a combination of analytical method and numerical iteration. It also verified the feasibility of HKM as a BB remote handling subsystem and provided an option for high precision control of HKM. References on previous works were enough. 

The authors should reflect the following comments in their revised paper.

- The authors stated that they verified the feasibility of HKM and proposed HKM as an alternative BB maintenance scheme. Thus, a paragraph regarding performance comparison of HKM with other method should be added in the conclusion section of the paper.

- English needs to be improved.

With the above revisions, I recommend this paper for publication in Applied Sciences with minor revision.
