Reviewer 2 Report

The reviewer would like to thank the authors for this thoughtful manuscript. This work has good potential. The authors are requested to put in some additional efforts to improve the quality of this manuscript.

Introduction

The authors are requested to elaborate on how such techniques can help in early response of natural disaster related events observed with remote sensing. Please cite the following article that reports a major disaster and discuss how such an event can benefit from the proposed methodology for detecting sliding mountain edges. The event largely impacted the local human livelihoods as well as manmade infrastructure. How can emergency communication networks help in pre and post-disaster management?

-Shugar et al, A massive rock and ice avalanche caused the 2021 disaster at Chamoli, Indian Himalaya, Science, 2021.

Otsu Method in Interdisciplinary Image Processing

The authors are requested to discuss the use of the Otsu method for different image processing applications. Please cite the following articles and indicate the strengths and contributions of the articles.

-Muhuri et al., “Seasonal snow cover change detection over the Indian Himalayas using polarimetric SAR images”, IEEE GRSL, 2017.

-Henley et al., "Imaging Behind Occluders Using Two-Bounce Light", Computer Vision-ECCV, 2020.

Image Enhancement Flowchart and Fig. 3

This is not large enough for understanding. Please increase the size. They are poorly highlighted.

Mathematical Equations

The authors have not provided a sufficient number of equations in the paper. They are requested to include the relevant ones.

Conclusion

The authors are requested to list the key contributions in this section. At the moment the section is not detailed enough.
