Migration Behaviour of the Combined Pollutants of Cadmium and 2,2′,4,4′,5,5′-Hexabrominated Diphenyl Ether (BDE-153) in Amaranthus mangostanus L. and Their Toxicity to A. mangostanus
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript investigated the effects of combined poluttants (cadmium and 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexabrominated di-phenyl ether (BDE-153)) on the growth and related physiological and biochemical indexes of Amaranthus mangostanus L. (amaranth).
The paper is interesting and well written, but there are still a number of aspects that need to be corrected and completed. 1. Authors should review the keywords, they must be representative.2. The novelty of the study must be presented in the introduction. 3. Specify the content of Hoagland nutrient solution. 4.Explain what considerations you based when you chose the concentration ranges used in the experiments for the 2 pollutants. 5. Complete the manuscript with data regarding the concentrations in which Cd is found in different types of polluted soils, as well as for BDE-153. 6. The conclusions section needs to be revised.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript entitled “Migration behaviour of the combined pollutants of cadmium 2 and 2,2',4,4',5,5'-hexabrominated diphenyl ether (BDE-153) in 3 Amaranthus mangostanus L. and their toxicity to A. mangosta-4 nus” addresses a relevant problem which is the assessment of the influence of combined pollutants on growth and related physiological and biochemical indexes of terrestrial plants (Amaranthus mangostanus L). The science part of the manuscript is sound, the language is clear and overall the manuscript is fluent and concise.
I only have some suggestions for the authors:
Please insert in the Introduction section the concentration of selected pollutants (Cd and BDE-153) found in the real environmental samples. Also, please motivate the selection of the Cd and BDE-153 concentrations for the experiments included in the present study.
Please use italics in writing the Latin name of amaranth.
Page 3, line 94: Please use space “followed[24]”.
Page 4, line 153: Please use only the abbreviation form, CAT, for catalase.
Page 5, lines 182-184: Please use the symbol, Cd, for cadmium.
Page 11, line 374: Please use only the abbreviation forms, SOD and CAT, for superoxide and catalase, respectively.
According to the template, please use the abbreviation of the journal's name (References section).
