Round  1

Reviewer 1 Report

1.     This paper is more like a technical report rather than a research article.

2.     Generally, these kind of standard test profiles are established by a technical committee comprising various manufacturers, experts, and users. Except for authors, who have joined this work?

3.     Most figures (Figs. 5-11) are not cited in the paper.

Author Response

This paper is more like a technical report rather than a research article.

->This study started with work on creating battery-related standards, so I feel like an overall technical report.

It is difficult to change the overall composition, so please review it again.

Generally, these kind of standard test profiles are established by a technical committee comprising various manufacturers, experts, and users. Except for authors, who have joined this work?

->Our organization is ISO TC 173 (electric wheelchair) Korea secretariat organization. All authors are technical experts in TC 173. Accordingly, this content was presented and reviewed at TC 173 WG10 on October 22, 2018 in BSI, London, UK.

The first page of the minutes of the meeting has a list of participants. The relevant content was reviewed at the ISO meeting.

Most figures (Figs. 5-11) are not cited in the paper.

->I have mentioned the insertion of the pictures in Figures (5 ~ 11).

(Line 158 ) figure. 5 is mentioned

(Line 171) figure 6 is mentioned

(Line 182 ) figure. 7 is mentioned

(Line 191 ) figure 8 is mentioned

(Line 207 ) figure. 9 is mentioned

Reviewer 2 Report

Thank you to the authors for considering this specific application of lithium ion batteries.

The paper is well written and shown interesting results for the definition of new standards in the field of Medical Electric Wheelchairs.

I suggest the authors to expand the results section including more detail about the specific requirements of the application in electrical safety and cycle life of the batteries, as discussed for vibration and reliability. This will complete the analysis.

Reviewer 3 Report

This manuscript describes an interesting experimental investigation on the safety of lithium batteries for electric wheelchairs. However, the presentation requires improvements as follow:

1.      The English usage needs improvements to meet the criteria of this journal.

2.      Line 238: Z value equations are not typed properly. Please modify them.

3.      Figures 12, 14 and 15: Axis titles are not consistent in these figures. It should be in the following format for BOTH x and y axis: parameter (unit).

4.      Figure 13 is not clear in its current form: There is no vertical axis title and unit. Furthermore, a legend is required for this figure.

5.      Conclusion section is not well presented. This section does not summarize the founding of this research and needs to be extended.

1

The   English usage needs improvements to meet the criteria of this journal.

Overall reviewed

2

Line 238: Z value equations are not typed properly. Please modify them.

(Line 242~245) I thought it was   difficult to understand the Z formula, and changed it to a narrative formula.

3

Figures   12, 14 and 15: Axis titles are not consistent in these figures. It should be   in the following format for BOTH x and y axis: parameter (unit)

Figures 12, 14, and 15 have changed the   X and y axis titles to parameter (unit) form.

(Line 262) Figure 12 → Figure 11

(Line 266) Figure 14 → Figure 13

(Line 269) Figure 15 → Figure 14

4

Figure 13   is not clear in its current form: There is no vertical axis title and unit.   Furthermore, a legend is required for this figure.

(Line 264) Figure 13 → Figure 12

Figure 12 was changed to the actual test   data value figure and the title was inserted on the X and Y axes.

5

Conclusion   section is not well presented. This section does not summarize the founding   of this research and needs to be extended.

(Line 272) The conclusion has been   modified
