Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Some of English could be improved

Was ethics approval obtained or have patients given consent to data being collected, combined, collated and analysed from the other hospitals - not just the Catholic University?

How much data was actually collected per different grouping once exclusion criteria applied - does this affect validity of model

Are you collecting prospective data to compare to the retrospective model

This is really a description of setting up a database. No detail is given to the algorithms that have been developed or clinical inputs utilised and how these will marry with pathological and imaging data. Not really a study as not have studied anything yet.

Some of English could be improved

ð  I took an English editing service.

Was ethics approval obtained or have patients given consent to data being collected, combined, collated and analysed from the other hospitals - not just the Catholic University?

ð  All of the hospitals’ ethical approval was obtained. (line number 222 ~ 224)

How much data was actually collected per different grouping once exclusion criteria applied - does this affect validity of model

ð  We set up the rules for exclusion and inclusion prior to collecting data from all of the prostate cancer patients of each participating hospital. Final data were collected by discussions with physicians (line number 154 ~ 155)

ð  The exclusion is not going to affect validity of model, because we focused on prostate cancer diagnosed patient.

Are you collecting prospective data to compare to the retrospective model

ð  We are collecting prospective data, and the number of data groups continues to grow.

This is really a description of setting up a database. No detail is given to the algorithms that have been developed or clinical inputs utilised and how these will marry with pathological and imaging data. Not really a study as not have studied anything yet.

ð  Three companies joined this project and working on the development of algorithms and software. When the software implemented for initial test environment, it will be open as paper of works. Now we can share conceptual contents for algorithms and software development.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript by Park et al. describes the initial development of PROMISE CLIP, a potential software designed for patients with PCa and clinicians. I found this technology very innovative and, if appropriately elaborated, coould be very helpful in PCa studies.

The “Patients and methods” are well described, as well as the Discussion. However, I encourage the authors to rewrite/reconsider the abstract and the introduction. For instance, the introduction could be larger, and lines 52-56 are a little monotonous. English grammar also needs moderate improvement.

-Please check references 2, 5 and 11

ð  I added more details about current status and research reference. (line number 70~72, 76~81)

ð  => I checked these references. I revised newest reference and get more details into manuscript from these references. (line number 70~72, 76~81)

Reviewer 3 Report

This is a great effort to create an integrated repository of patients. However, the presentation of this report needs quite a bit of improvement.

1) It is difficult to follow the number of patients and the corresponding available modalities. A table clearly stating the number of patients, parameters available, how many of them have all the three modalities: clinical, imaging and pathology available? Data distribution table will be great.

2) Is there a URL to a website that has been created for this repository or a demo video showing how the software interface is being built? It is not very clear to visualize what the end product will be.

3) Insights gained so far creating the repository and overall statistics will be useful.

4) Who will have access to this repository? Will this be made available publicly or commercially?

This is a great effort to create an integrated repository of patients. However, the presentation of this report needs quite a bit of improvement.

=> Each data groups companies and hospitals are working on the development of algorithms and software. We are also collecting prospective data, the number of data is growing. When each groups work was done, it will be open as paper.

=> I added details of data acquisition in the revised manuscript. (line number 180~194)

2) Is there a URL to a website that has been created for this repository or a demo video showing how the software interface is being built? It is not very clear to visualize what the end product will be.

=> The software is now under development. The URL for reference is http://dranswer.kr .

3) Insights gained so far creating the repository and overall statistics will be useful.

=> Each companies and hospitals is working on the development of algorithms and software. It will be open as paper when the work is done. (line number 264~308)

4) Who will have access to this repository? Will this be made available publicly or commercially?

=> Collected data are available only for participants of the PROMISE CLIP project. Software developed from these data is going to be used by participant hospitals for the initial implementation test followed by spreading across the entire country. (line number 192~194)
