In general an interesting paper.

Some additional points:

-) line 216, 229, 234, 264, 274, and 304: reference error

-) What type of flocculant was used

-) A full chemical analysis of the investigated materials would be of interest. Additionally a morphological characterization (especially present compounds) would be of interest to draw conclusions about the ability to neutralize the acidic waste water (not only by calcium compounds). Also the difference between fresh and land filled material could be described by that, as the aging process of the landfilled material can be outlined.

-) table 3: The ratio between the added amount of material in the trial and the present amount of calcium in the sample material would be of interest. Due to the missing full chemical analysis it is rather difficult to draw conclusions about other ongoing neutralization reactions aside of that of calcium.
I assume that this is a further crucial point aside of the particle size distribution influencing the availability of compounds performing the neutralization.

Presented article deals with the interesting and important problem. It is well written in correct English. The text is divided into paragraphs which have logical name and numbering. However, article is recommended for publication there are some points which need to be discussed:

in lines ............. authors listed all equipment which - because it is not a unique equipment it is not necessary in that level journal; in lines  .......... authors listed the steps of experiment - the description is sometimes too detailed. Maybe that part could be tranfered to the supplementary date section. in some places the numbers of figures are missed in the text - the link is not working and marked with comment about ERROR.
