Interesting work. It might be improved adding some kind of experimental validation. Otherwise, the title should be changed including a reference from the fact that results come from a model. That should also be included in the abstract.

Reviewer 3 Report

Dear Authors,

The research is well-presented on the whole and the results are clearly presented.

The crack proposed model has explained correctly and his application in the model it's understandable.

Finally, after the review process, the following queries have arisen:

1. Deep describe the application of the crack model in the overall model and describe how the simulation has been done

 2. Move the explanations of the fault detection indicators (row 281) in the paragraph before their use and results

3. It's suggested to enhance the overall paper comprehension for the indicator used and improve the references to include in the introduction a reference at works as the follow

Gelman, L., Harish Chandra, N., Kurosz, R., Pellicano, F., Barbieri, M., Zippo, A. Novel spectral kurtosis technology for adaptive vibration condition monitoring of multi-stage gearboxes (2016) Insight: Non-Destructive Testing and Condition Monitoring, 58 (8), pp. 409-416. DOI: 10.1784/insi.2016.58.8.409
