Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors

My comments are given in the Attached ersion of your manuscript. Furthermore, I will suggest a a litter longer Chapter of Conclusions, in which the main findings are specified in some more details. Many of my remarks are on the language and my struggle in interpretation, but even a table is missing (Table 6), cf. row 149.

Reviewer 2 Report

Data is very important in the case of agricultural effectiviness. Authors mainly presented study of local problems but this information enrich the precision use of models in agriculture.

Some comments:

  1. I suggest highlight not mainly local, but also international impact of investigations in the Introduction part.
  2. Why authors used capital title of maize? Lines 106 ,107 and other?
  3. Table 4 needs explanation of abbreviations.
  4. In M&M part missed information about what is it APSIM. Who made? What functions are? Or similar...
  5. Lines 140-141. "A sowing density of 67,000 plants ha−1 140 and row spacing of 0.75 m were used in the model. " Why did you use such agro-technological parameter? If it the usual practice, please include reference.
  6. Figure 9. I suggest include regression equations due to high number of spots presented. Will be much understandable. The same with Fig. 11.
  7. Conclusions could be more preside but, I guess, it is not necessary because Discussion chapter was included.
