Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

On one hand, the problem presented by the authors is very interesting as it is a design of the dryer that was built has tronconic plates based on the Coandă effect, which allows warm air to be distributed evenly throughout the mass of product. It is proved that the unit with deflectors resulted in a reduction of emitted heat of up to 15.38% and a reduction of energy consumption of up to 14%.

On the other hand, the article lacks clarity and formality in describing the details of the procedures.

I would recommend to:

1.      The references are too old. It is suggested to replace them with those of recent years.

2.      At the end of the abstract, what method is used to design the transplanting machine, what tools are used to carry out experimental measurements, and what results are obtained should be mentioned

3.      The solution obtained in line 258 is not shown. It is unclear what is to be calculated and what the purpose of equations (6) and (7) are.

4.      The design basis and size of cylindrical unit have not been shown in line 346.

5.      The number of samples shown is too small in Fig.12.

6.      The data on energy consumption, the protein content and the germination power of corn seeds mentioned in the article are not measured in line 444.

7.      The word “Certainly” is too absolute in line 451.

8.      Conclusions should be described in segments, specifically on which research content is analyzed.

9.      Section 3.2 is about simulation analysis, is there any related experimental analysis?

To solve the currently used seed dryers have high energy demands , release high amounts of heat and they do not solve the problem of the uniformity of both air temperature and air velocity in the seed layer. This article is designed a device , the dryer that was built has transonic plates based on the Coandă effect, which allows warm air to be distributed evenly throughout the mass of product. In other words, the device designed in this paper can effectively achieve the goal of reducing heat dissipation and reducing energy consumption.

The research method of this article is rational, the writing format is standardized, But the following problems exist.

1. The first chapter of this article is not coherent enough in introducing the basic concepts and previous research summaries and introducing their own research objectives, and there are problems with some of the content logic.

2. In the second chapter of this paper, seeds with the same water content in the drying experiment should be done in several groups under the same conditions to avoid experimental accidents.

3. In the second and third chapters of this article, it is better to dry the simulation and the analysis of the simulation results later, and then the experiment and experimental result analysis.

4. Some of the formatting issues in this article will not be elaborated.

After reading the revised manuscript carefully, I find that the quality of the revised manuscript has already been improved; the technical deficiencies of the manuscript have been corrected.
