Influence Relationship between Online News Articles and the Consumer Selling Price of Agricultural Products—Focusing on Onions
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The paper provides an interesting point of view of the Influence Relationship between Online News Articles and Consumer Selling Price of Agricultural Products - Focusing on Onions, however it needs major improvement.
1. Please justify why have you decided to analyse the onions? You write: line 89-91 Onion is a price-sensitive item as it is used throughout the year as an important ingredient in our table among seasoned vegetables. What do you mean by our? Global? Korean? You should show some data to prove it and compare with other vegetables.
2. In my opinion – you should specify in the title, that it is regarding only Korea area (if I understand it correctly).
3. In the abstract you write: (lines 9-10) "This study aimed to verify the influence relationship between the news articles on onion items and the consumer selling price of onions", without specifying in which language were these articles, in which area?
4. In the introduction – there is no clearly defined purpose of the research.
5. As for the research framework, my suggestion is to clarify how the literature was reviewed to justify the research framework according to relevant theories in the body of literature. In fact, the author should improve the theoretical justification of the study. Which is/are the theory/ies adopted to justify the study. I suggest to provide theoretical justification leveraging on the a relevant theory in the field of consumer choise or behavioral economics. This justification could guarantee that the author has not overlooked some relevant papers in the analysis of the theoretical background. In fact, in this present version this section neglects some valuable recent contributions in the body of knowledge (research on the influence related to mass media – line 47 is not enough), and therefore the authors should work more to update the literature review. There are many factors that influence price changes.
6. In lines 104 – 105 you write: The media to be collected are the data provided online as news articles of major domestic daily newspapers, Donga Ilbo, Chosun Ilbo, JoongAng Ilbo, Kyunghyang Shinmun, Hankyoreh, and Hankook Ilbo, and terrestrial broadcasters KBS, MBC, and SBS. Domestic = Korean?
7. What is the market size for these newspapers?
8. How many people read newspapers in Korea?
9. Your limitations of the study is too poor. You didn’t consider enough other aspects. Please develop it.
10. The text is too econometrics, Please simplify it.

The paper could benefit from an introductory paragraph that targets the purpose of the paper and the methodological process behind the used method, in this case the data analysis on certain words in the news.
The paper could also benefit from a paragraph that highlights the data collection process and what are the direct and indirect limits of the model.
Furthermore, the authors could insert a paragraph in the Discussion section that shares the issues had finalising the research and also future paths that could result from the actual research.

Dear Authors,
I appreciate your efforts in improving the article and including my content-related remarks. However it still needs minor improvement.
· There is an unnecessary dash at the end of the title "...Onions Produced in Korea-" (line 4).
· Why did you introduce the onion prices in the Philippines if your research concerns the Korean market? (lines 28-30)?
· Section 2. "Related Works" should be replaced by “Literature review".
· There are many linguistic mistakes, ex. As a limitation of the study, First… (line 371), “…to news articles. but factors…” (line 376), etc. “…provided by aT onions distribution information…” (line 167), etc.
