The article has a scientific character. The Authors applied correct research methods and used the appropriate measuring equipment. The content of the work is logically written. The manuscript contains 13 figures and 2 tables. Figures aren't properly prepared. Authors cited 43 literature sources. The work concerns the wear properties of chromizing coating. The authors presented an interesting work, but it requires numerous improvements to be of satisfactory quality.

General remarks

1. The novelty of the work in comparison with the state of the art or science (highlights) should be indicated. Authors must extend the analysis of the state of the art as well as discuss it, and not just mention the numbering of the literature. They also need to show that their work brings an aspect of novelty compared to already existing solutions, in particular with your previous articles.

2. Specify the data of the apparatus in the article in the following order: device designation, manufacturer's name, city, country.

3. In general, improve the discussion of the results obtained

Ref.comments to the paper titled as “Improved wear resistance of traction wheel via chromizing: A combined study of experiment and simulation” written by the authors:  Shanjun Li, Zehua Yang, Qiang Wan, Jianfeng Hou, Yangyi Xiao,Xin Zhang, Rui Gao and Liang Meng

It is known that the process of the chrome plating of the materials with different structure have been used often by the researchers and engineers in order to improve the resistance and to protect the materials from corrosion. From this point of view the manuscript is actual and modern.

Firstly, it should be remarked that the authors have made the literature search, analyzing 43 references. Indeed, this will indicates the knowledge of the problem, its useful solving and finding ways to resolve it. Moreover, the analysis of the papers written last 3-5 years has been added with good advantage as well.

Introduction part and Experimental materials section are presented with good illustration by the Fig.1. It permits to see the construction and understand the chemical process. Experimental method part is shown the approach clear.

Results section. Figure 2: SEM micrographs of chromizing coating and chemical compositions distribution of coating in the cross-section; chromizing coating surface (2 000x); chromizing layer(5 000x) – were presented to us the homogenous chromising layer, the boundary and substrate treated by the penetration process. The curves shown were explain the element analysis. X-ray diffraction patterns of chromizing coating (Fig.3) can support the data shown before. Nice data one can see from Fig.4: Surface roughness of QT400 and chromizing sample. It is really give to us the evidence of the attributed pores influence on the coatings features.

Mechanical properties section. Yes, it can coincide with our basic physical-chemical knowledge. Please use tilted Latin symbols in your formula (2) and after it for the value of the plastic deformation energy. Fig.5 and Fig.6 present the analytical data for the results obtained well.

Friction properties and wear resistance section show the acceptable mathematical apparatus and interesting results shown in Table 1: The parameters of wire rope.

The results, which are visualized in Figure 8. Comparison of friction coefficient between chromizing coating and QT400 in dry friction and lubrication conditions can be shown and applied in the education process, as well as the data from Fig.10: Wear loss of each sample under dry friction and lubricating conditions. Section: The mechanism of enhanced wear resistance based on FEA – is supported by the simulation results; it is good!

Discussion part is so short, it should be extended. For example, in this part the change of the refractivity (connected with the material density is well) should be taken into account due to the reason that the penetration depth for the different elements via chromizing process is large for your construction.

The conclusion also the significance for the accumulation of new knowledge.

So, the paper is interesting for the researchers, engineers, and students. I can recommend to the authors to answer the questions mentioned above.  Thus, the paper can be published after minor corrections.
