Characterization and Electrochemical Analysis of Acidic Condensate-Induced Corrosion on Aluminized Coating on Steel in Residential Heaters
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Electrochemical impedance measurements in an acidic condensate revealed lower corrosion resistance of the aluminized steel surface with a weld line, identifying welded sections as preferential corrosion initiation sites. Several comments listed below.
1. Line 30, please giving the explanation of several options available for space hating equipment first for giving better understanding to the reader.
2. Line 28, In the present form, actually nothing really novel. The current works appears to be a replication or modified literature according to the lack of novelty. The authors must extensively describe the novel in their work. This work should be rejected due to a serious concern.
3. Line 39-41, as the concept of “acid”, please give the explanation it terms of “ph”.
4. Line 42, would authors giving the rationalisation from chemical reaction perspective for SO3, SO2, NO2, CO2, etc?
5. Please explain more detail the basic concept of residential heaters and previous study in the introduction section. Linking too with present results.
6. Line 71, the basis of corrosion texting needs to provided, or it adopted from established literature?
7. Line 85, comprehensive explanation for this schematic of aluminium coating is mandatory.
8. Please explain potential further study in investigating materials performance through computational simulation. It brings several advantages, such as lower cost and faster results. For this purpose, please provide the explanation along with relevant reference as follows: https://doi.org/10.3390/biomedicines11030951
