The Coatings Editorial Office retracts the article entitled “Study on the Removal Efficiency and Mechanism of Tetracycline in Water Using Biochar and Magnetic Biochar” [1], cited above.
Following its publication, concerns were brought to the attention of the Editorial Office relating to the methodology, data analysis, relevancy of references, and authorship of this article [1].
Adhering to our procedure, an investigation was conducted by the Editorial Office and Editorial Board. Following communications with the authorship group, the Editorial Office and Editorial Board were unable to fully verify the accuracy of the originally listed authorship list. Relevant institutions were also contacted but failed to respond to these concerns. Upon request, authors did provide all of the initial data, but the subsequent experiments performed by the authors showed that, due to sample instability, the research data could not be fully reproduced. Furthermore, the Editorial Board found that a significant portion of the literature cited was not sufficiently relevant to this publication and thus does not comply with MDPI’s Citation Policies (https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#_bookmark20 (accessed on 8 May 2024)). As a result, the Editorial Board has lost confidence in the integrity of the findings and decided to retract this publication [1], as per MDPI’s retraction policy (https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#_bookmark30 (accessed on 8 May 2024)) and in line with the Committee on Publication Ethics retraction guidelines (https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines (accessed on 8 May 2024)).
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of Coatings.
