Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This review paper is well-structured review on string theory landscape, with personal view peppered. The author is one of the leading researchers on the subject, and have made balanced overview of relevant proposals, results and outstanding problems. The paper hardly discusses recent development of various landscape / swampland conjectures; it would be useful to the readers if the author comments on whether and how the development may be related to various issues covered in this review. Otherwise, I fully recommend the paper to be published without delay.

Author Response

I thank the reviewer for his or her comments.

I added a new paragraph on the landscape/swampland arguments.

Also section 2.1 discusses the most controversial claim of this type, that string theory does not have metastable de Sitter compactifications.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript presents a very nice review of important issues in the current understanding of string theory towards fundamental cosmological problems. The deep presentation of the subject it well beyond a mere collection of results. The manuscript definitely deserves publication in the Universe journal.
