Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper proposed an analysis for asynchronous traction electric drive of a shuttle in mining industry. This paper showed the condition of boundary stability and self-oscillation parameters is related to magnitude and load change. The idea used by the author is quite interesting. However, there are still some issues that need to be improved.

  1. The abstract should include the obtained results more in detail. In its current form, it is not stand-alone. For example, mentioning "extension of previously published papers" on page 1.
  2. An independent discussion section that analyzes and summarizes the background phenomena that caused the obtained results is missing from the manuscript. In the current form, it is very limited to catch this part of the background information from the manuscript.
  3. The equations which are between Eq. (2) and Eq. (3) should be numbered. There is a section title written in boldface before section 5 and section 6. This section needs to be written in independent section such as subsection. Conclusion cannot be summarized by respective subsection. Same reference was referred repeatedly, [28] and [29]. The authors have to pay more attention following the journal format.
  4. This paper is a kind of review about experiment results. The main problem of oscillation and self-oscillation is supposed to be resolved by novel contributions. The Authors have referred to their own previous studies, [25-31] about frequency and motor analysis. Based on the references, a method in comparison with respect to previous results has to be explained in detail for the main issue solving.
  5. All the figures used in this paper are very hard to read the units and y-labels. Icons above the figures don’t need to be included to understand figure results.
  6. The conclusion section needs to be revised. Conclusion is more than merely summarizing the conducted research. It should also include the general understanding obtained after conducting this research and provide the primary knowledge for extending it.
  7. In contrast to the related state-of-the-art articles, what are the main contributions of this paper? It would be better to summarize the main contributions more clearly.

Reviewer 2 Report

In this paper, the authors investigated the possibility of using nonlinear transfer function to evaluate the dynamics of asynchronous electric drive, and they found the self oscillation is not only affected by magnitude but also by the rate of load change. In general, the manuscript is technically sound and in fair quality. However, some questions need to be addressed before publication.

(1) The introduction does not provide enough background and references, which make readers confused. The authors are expected to conduct a comprehensive literature survey and illustrate what makes your work unique.

(2) Some of the plots need higher resolution. Especially for fig.3, fig.4, fig.5, fig.6. The authors may think about other ways to show the experiment results.

(3) Page 8 equation (1), the authors need to show the reference of this equation, or give a brief derivation.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

Most of the questions are well answered. However, the following things need to be fixed before publication.

1. Eq. (14) on page 14 needs to be represented in more neat way.

2. Figures 3, 4, 14, 15, and 16 include sub-figures, respectively. Each sub-figures should be in the same page.
