Response to Reviewer 2 Comments

General notes:

Point 1: In my opinion, following the journal guidelines (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/processes/instructions), the paper must contain an introduction section, materials and methods section, results section, discussion section and conclusion section. I suggest to reorganize the paper following these instructions.

Response 1: In the revised essay, already reorganize the paper following these instructions.

Point 2: Please format the paper as required by the journal guidelines (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/processes/instructions).

Response 2: In the revised essay, already format the paper as required by the journal guidelines.

Point 3: Please improve the quality of the figures.

Response 3: In the revised essay, already improve the quality of some figures such as figure 2, figure 5 etc..

Point 4: Please report all the measurement units of the terms of each equation.

Response 4: In the revised essay, already report all the measurement units of the terms of each equation.

Point 5: Maybe a list of symbols with their description could improve the readability of the paper.

Response 5: Personally, I think there are not too many symbols in this article. So, tt may be better to introduce and explain them when they appear.

Point 6: Please add more references in the paper on the aspects which are already known in literature, e.g. system identification description.

Response 6: In the revised essay, recent references on hydraulic system control and system identification have been added.

References

Point 1: A too high number of self-citations seems to be registered in the paper. Please reduce this number or motivate further this choice.

Response 1: In the revised essay, already reduce self-citations.

Section 1 (Introduction)

Point 1: Please extend the bibliographical review.

Response 1: In the revised essay, already extend the bibliographical review.

Point 2: At the end of the introduction, the descriptions of the sections of the work must be added.

Response 2: In the revised essay, already added descriptions of the sections of the work at the end of the introduction.

Section 2 (Hydraulic system of FBP and its modeling)

Point 1: Lines 107-108: in my opinion, a reference to the partner can be included in an acknowledgments section (see https://www.mdpi.com/journal/processes/instructions).

Response 1: In the revised essay, already deleted a reference to the partner.

Point 2: In my opinion, Section 2.1 must be extended in order to better clarify the process and to discuss the automation hierarchy within this type of process. Furthermore, a list with the Manipulated Variables, Controlled Variables and Disturbance Variables and of the measured process variables could improve the readability of the paper.

Response 2: In the revised essay, we extended section 2.1. The workflow of our equipment is introduced in detail, and a list with the Manipulated Variables, Controlled Variables and Disturbance Variables and of the measured process variables is added.

Point 3: Please better explain the Figure 2.

Response 3: In the revised essay, Some contents have been added to explain Figure 2 and its variables in detail.

Point 4: Please report the nonlinear characteristics described in Section 2.2.1, justifying the linear approximation reported in Equation (1).

Response 4: In the revised essay, the reasons for the nonlinearity of this model are added and explained, and justified the linear approximation.

Point 5: Please better detail how Equation (3) is obtained and further assess the assumptions.

Response 5: In the revised essay, the acquisition of Equation (3) is described in detail and evaluated.

Point 6: Please better explain how Equation (9) is obtained.

Response 6: For some format reasons, Equation (4) in the PDF of the previous version displays abnormally. In the revised essay, added Equation (4) and explains how to activate Equation (9).

Section 3 (System identification in BL stage of FBP)

Point 1: Lines 243-244: please add references on the used instruments. Please add a subsection where hardware and software exploited are suitably detailed.

Response 1: In the revised essay, already add a subsection where hardware and software exploited are suitably detailed.

Point 2: Please improve the schematic diagram of Figure 5.

Response 2: In the revised essay, already improved the schematic diagram.

Point 3: Lines 260-261: please further justify the choice of the reported parameters.

Response 3: In the revised essay, the reasons for selecting these parameters are explained in detail

Point 4: Lines 276-278: please justify the choice of ARX model.

Response 4: In the revised essay, the reasons for choice of ARX model are explained.

Point 5: Lines 288-289: please justify the choice of AIC and FPE methods.

Response 5:The reasons for choice of AIC and FPE methods are explained in the revised essay.

Point 6: Maybe there are some typos at line 294.

Response 6: Due to some format problems of Mathtype, part of Mathtype does not display normally and has been corrected.
